Native Woman JosieVF Arrested for Burning Sage in Denver CO at Trump Rally.Â
Ironically the cop arresting her had chewing tobacco in his mouth. Native to Americas, but she canât burn sage, so much for âreligious freedomâ.
Iâm confused as to how people can legally walk around with guns, but not sage.
Police shoot and kill Baton Rouge man Alton Sterling
Alton Sterling, a black, 37-year-old resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died Tuesday during an encounter with local police officers outside a Triple S Food Mart in East Baton Rouge Parish. Sterling was killed after officers tackled him to the ground, pinned him and shot him multiple times. Officers later withdrew a gun from Sterlingâs pocket. Graphic video captured the violent incident.
Update:Â Louisiana congressman Cedric Richmond, who covers the second district in Louisiana, called on the Department of Justice to investigate the death of 37-year-old area man Alton Sterling.Â
âThe video footage released today ⌠was deeply troubling and has understandably evoked strong emotion and anger in our community,â Rep. Richmond said in a statement. âThere are a number of unanswered questions surrounding Mr. Sterlingâs death.â
Update:Â The U.S. Department of Justice will lead a civil rights probe into the shooting of Alton Sterling, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said during a press conference Wednesday.Â
While Edwards was not able to release the identities of the officers involved in the shooting, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, officials announced their names via press release.
Update: More information has come to light about the officers involved, Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake. It is unclear which of the two officers fired the shots, but both told East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore that they felt âcompletely justified in using deadly force.â Hereâs everything we know about Salamoni  and Lake.
Additionally, new video from a different angle has surfaced of Lake and Salamoni killing Sterling. Warning: The video is graphic.

Saying gendered socialization isnât real is literally the most misogynistic bullshit. What youâre really saying is that girls just happen to be more likely to be submissive and feminine. The world around them didnât play a part in it. Itâs natural. What youâre saying is that thatâs just the way women are.
this isnât what people who are arguing against gendered socialization are saying at all - gender socialization exists, but saying it is specific to a (assigned) gender is to say that the problem lies with the individual
we literally see this with the whole âwomen get paid less bc theyâre less assertive in negotiationsâ and if weâre attributing that to the way an individual is socialised then being more assertive, acting more âlike a manâ ought to help, right? it doesnât, it has the opposite effect, bc the other party (be they male, female, or otherwise), has internalised the stipulations of gender roles and is gna react with punishing that woman for breaking her socially prescribed set of behaviours
like how much u got t h8 women to basically argue that oppression has a basis in sth internal(ized) as opposed to external policing lol
