Tales of Vesperia Droite, Gauche, and Yeager. Major Spoilers here BE READY FOR SOME FEELS!
At first Yeager is the enemy, he sends these two annoying girls after you and laughs it off as he seemingly swims in cash from his illegal weapon sales. You hate the guy, not because he's evil but because he's the first villain who isn't a bad person. He openly admits at the death of the Don that even though he planned to kill the man, he still respected him and does in fact mourn for him. Yeager had enough respect for the man to even want to fight him fairly rather than execute him in some kind of trap. Yeager isn't some cold blooded killer. He is hired to get in your way, so he does so. He has nothing personal against you really. A while later you run into him again, only this time he doesn't have Droite and Gauche. He requests a fight to the death for seemingly foolish reasons. Almost everyone in the fight asks him "why are you fighting alone!?" Even a few members can be heard saying "I feel bad" or "this isn't right!" no one wanted to kill Yeager despite him getting in the way. You then find out he was ordered to stop you at ALL costs including his own life and if he failed to he and the girls would be in a lot of trouble. A little while longer and you figure out why he always had the girls with him, why he was so kind and selfless, why he needed all that money from illegal sales. He was donating thousands and thousands of gald (It's called gald in this game) every month to an orphanage. The very same where he adopted Droite and Gauche. He took them in, and saved their life. He continued to support the people he loved even if he had to become a bad person to do so. He gave his own life that day to protect the girls. During the whole battle he never sounds angry at you. His death line is "Heaven awaits..." If either of the girls die, their death line is promptly "Yeager..." or "I'm sorry Yeager..." if one of the girls is still alive, when the other falls she has a chance to say "Avenge Yeager..." The entire fight is heart-wrenching! These are suppose to be evil people who want to destroy the world and in reality they fight because they have to. Because if they don't they'll be killed and if they die then no one will support the orphanage. Yeager was just some silly French man the biggest of hearts...even if it was Blastia powered. He was given a fake heart, one that would keep him alive for eternity. He said it was so he could survive in battle, but as it obviously didn't help him it can be inferred that the real reason behind it was so he could stay with the girls even when he should be growing old. He could stay young, and protect them. He's one of my favorite characters, not because he's an awesome Frenchy not because of his amazing hair, or his Scythe-Gun but because of his relationships with Droite and Gauche. Throughout the whole game they challenge you to avenge Yeager, not to the death but rather just an honorable surrender would be fine with them. You should know more than once I contemplated letting them win because they're not just trying to avenge some evil dude they worked for...They were fighting to avenge their father, a man who saved their lives. It's also clear he named them because in French Droite, means Right and Gauche means Left. Droite is right handed, while Gauche is left handed. While Yeager has a strong French accent neither Droite nor Gauche sound French. They were orphans living alone trying to survive without food and basic needs. Then Yeager came along, he raised them, he gave them meaning, he taught them how to use a sword, and he loved them.
This has just been my two gald on the matter if you wanna add anything feel free to reblog.
