I've been holding back a lot of stuff I've been wanting to say this election cycle, mainly because most of it was already said by our favorite comedians. But now after seeing this joke become a reality? I'm done.
So, let me get this out of the way first. People are talking about, "Bernie Sanders should've been nominated." Maybe, or do you not remember how he chided and walked away from the Black Lives Matter protesters that popped up at a couple of his rallies a while back while his crowd shouted them down? Yes, he had GREAT ideas but there were no solid plans; maybe the numbers said he was better, but there was no telling how he would have reacted
what probably would've happened during the general. Even with her missteps, at least Hillary stood and listened to people criticizing her, along with not throwing a freaking tantrum or overreacting when things weren't going her way, which presented herself as the better candidate. And yet...
I'm pissed at how the Voting Rights Act was gutted, which held back people from voting, which could've changed the entire landscape of this election. I'm pissed at how the media lined their pockets by giving this man free airtime, which helped spread his message. I'm pissed at how people let their fears of how not just the country, but the WORLD, is changing get the best of them.
I'm pissed at how this man let the freaking KU KLUX KLAN slide, not saying shit once rebuking them, which got racists out in full force to put him into office. I'm pissed at how people who say they are 'progressive' just shoved aside the concerns of people who have a lot to lose and are crying that shit didn't go their way and want to blame the people who actually showed up and out for Hillary instead of blaming themselves for not listening to us. I'm pissed that people held FREAKING E-MAILS over her head when she was cleared of doing nothing wrong.
I'm pissed at how people elected a man who says he can commit sexual assault just because he's a celebrity. I'm pissed that WHITE WOMEN voted for a man who talked so much trash about them and said, "We're fine with that." I'm pissed at how people elected a man who has some of the most disgusting words about pretty much every person that lives in this country: Black people, Hispanic people, women, the disabled, and the LGBTQ+ community.
I'm pissed, but even more scared, about how this man's vice President believes that shock therapy will turn LGBTQ+ people straight, and as a governor, locked women up simply for having a miscarriage or an abortion. I'm pissed that, as of this time, 8 trans people have committed suicide because of the outcome of this election because of said governor's policies.
I'm pissed that the Senate and House has become a gang of 'yes men' that will try, and may well succeed, to undo everything that President Barack Obama has worked so hard for these last 8 years. The Affordable Care Act? Gone. Marriage equality? Ripped up. Climate change policy? Poof. And my generation will have to live with the effects of this if any of his policies come to fruition.
And I'm pissed that people are going to try and blame minorities or LGBTQ+Â people about this. The person who we wanted to speak for us lost. This is on White America. Just look at the exit polls. As I said earlier, white women came out in droves against someone who wanted better for them and white men finally have someone who solidified how they really feel about us.
But most of all, I'm pissed that we have to live with this bullshit for four years.
