Hey so idk where people are getting that Harugo referred to Dorothy and Daireijo as shimai/familial sisters, but I have not found a single post where he explicitly refers to them as such on ANY social media. Like, I have checked his Tumblr, Twitter, Insta, Tumblr, website, and I've seen nothing. The "sister" in the lyrics seems to be ironic/humorous more than anything, and I'm willing to chalk up 'dear my sis' to an awkward translation error. I don't think it's incest at all

heya so the shimai (姉妹) comes from this tweet ( https://x.com/harumaki_gohan/status/1717119048398651592?s=46&t=_OfWhkFdN2APHwW7rqbueA ) in the first line. i don’t blame u for not finding it. It’s just that this in conjunction with the other stuff really does bring the sibling portrayal to light. I really do wish it wasn’t. and i’ve had multiple people tell me that it just is familial sisters. the song refers to them growing up around eachother too.

Of course you could argue that they’re just two people who have known eachother from when they were little and grew up together but other harumakigohan songs have that too but they don’t look remotely as similar (design wise) as these two. I cant help but assume it’s intentional. And as for the translation stuff, I would assume that the artists in charge would know what they’re doing when they do this stuff. If they’re putting in english it’s safe to assume they know the translations and what they mean (and other interpretations).

basically, and this is all sourced from various explanations of the sisters thing, especially tick's - in japan, "sister" in english/katakana is slang for lesbian relationships in all-girls schools! that explains why they were shown as growing up together, they were likely classmates. this is actually the second time harumaki gohan has fallen victim to The Allegations (first time was when people thought he was homophobic due to a mistranslated interview) and it makes me sad :(

hey i dont use tumblr often but figured this is the place to talk about it. the MV is blatant incest that people are praising for being yuri?? I'm kind of disgusted. Unless somehow I've managed to misinterpret it (which i highly doubt. harumaki gohan himself calls them sisters(familial) in his tweet, the lyrics call them sisters and the final screencap has the words "dear my sis" on a card.... like cmon. they also have the same eyes but that point can be cancelled out by design choices (even then i find that a romantic song doesn't need all the sibling imagery. i wish it was in the religious "sister" sense but i doubt it) )

I am a lesbian who found comfort in his music, he was my favourite artist/producer ever and now i just feel sick. lesbians always get fetishised in these ways and i really expected more from him. i also skimmed through the comments and only found one comment addressing it? To be fair its still early days as the MV has been up for 4/5 hours but even then.. I'm very disappointed. If someone would like to correct me please let me know but I have been desperately translating comments for any sort of mistake I've made.
