fun fact: whether on purpose or not, in episode 11 of my country when seon-ho talks to sung-rok going against his father, nam jeon and hwi’s involvement, the candles in the backgrounds of both close-up shots are both flickering wildly and even momentarily disappear. this is contrasted in his closeup while he talks to nam jeon at ihwaru, where the candle flame in the background is steady, which makes me interpret this as a visual metaphor for his conviction — wavering in the face of knowing that hwi is involved, but strengthened in the face of his father.
