Look I'll hand it to y'all that Alicent is very flip-floppy with Aegon in a way that's hard to justify (personally I think she should've stuck to hating him after the "you are no son of mine" line in S1, or otherwise convinced herself he never raped that girl) but idk how soooooo many people are absolutely befuddled by her switching up on Aemond. It's incredibly easy to understand if you're not dense lol.

Like of course she's going to defend her child when he's a small, gravely wounded boy who (as far as she knows) hasn't done anything wrong. But we can't forget she never wanted this child in the first place, he was forced out of her when she was still a child herself, just like the rest. To stay sane, she tells herself the lies everyone wants her to believe, that motherhood is not only a gift but her destiny, her only purpose, she must love her children unconditionally, there is no other option....but that lie is only going to hold up for so long. So when that wounded boy grows up to be a psychopathic maniac who wants to fuck his own mother and murders people right in front of her without a second thought, even admitting to the attempted murder of his own brother? OF COURSE she wants that super late term abortion!! What is not clockinnnnng
