               sugawara closes his eyes , thick lashes FLUTTER against the ivory of his skin as he tries to recall the previous night --- it was hazy , almost as if he were drunk ( but he was completely sober ; maybe it was because he was DRUNK ON LOVE ? ) . && then he remembers , it was an excerpt from a book of poems he had been reading --- “ ‘as water of a stream will meet , though , barred by rocks , apart it fall / in rash cascades, so we too, sweet, shall be together after all .’ that one ? ”

time passed and they are almost reaching the place. the nice aroma of the food filling his nostrils by now and he couldn’t help but grow hungrier by the second. boy how much he wanted to be already inside there and have his share of a nice meal. “i can’t wait to have some food. i’m starving…” hajime snorts when he saw that dorky grin in suga’s face.

               “ almost there ! ” sugawara CHIRPS before shuffling along --- it wouldn’t take much longer until they were seated at a small table beside the window . sugawara would open up the menu to take a look through it , wondering what he should get . “ everything looks so GOOD . ehhh ? iwaizumi - kun , there’s a giant tonkatsu challenge here ! ”

       Daichi pauses over the words, picking at them more than he probably should. ( he wonders if Suga will sense the overthinking – wonders if the reason he hurries through is because he know he will be easily read. ) The gap between autumn and spring, this autumn, this spring, feels wider than a whole year. But he lets himself settle in the knowledge that the ambience is the same and is all that matters. 

       ❛ Be careful. ❜ It’s a murmured, automatic response. The way he responds, knocking his own shoulder against Suga’s, is far warmer than the words. ❛ It’ll melt soon, ❜ he agrees, glancing at the way ice coats the branches and glimmers in the sunlight. ❛ Which is all for the best, hm? ❜ 

               feelings . words . seasons --- they were all FLEETING ( with the blink of an eye they pass through && sugawara wonders where all the time has gone ) . the setter only laughs , a tepid breath escapes his lips , a puff of white air surrounding his lips for a second before disappearing . “ daichi , ” he calls out the other’s name , almost in a CHIDING manner , as if he were to remind him of something . “ once the snow melts , that means OUR time would come to an end . ” sugawara stops again , hands stuffed into his pockets , brows knit together in worry .                “ it’s too soon . too FAST . ” lost in his own thought , the setter coughs to clear his throat before lifting his eyes to peer at daichi , chapped lips curl into a slight smile . “ sounds like something asahi would say . ”

       It’s not so rare that he’s caught that by surprise; by instinct, he stops when Suga does, head canting curiously to the side – and then dropping as a gentle smile flickers, languid and amused, across the span of his lips.

               “ it’d be ever MORE perfect if it was actually autumn --- winter . close enough . ” at the mention of the season , the setter tugs his muffler closer , just snug enough so it would warm up the skin where the gakuran he wore couldn’t cover . he’d QUICKEN his steps to make up for the lost ones , catching up with daichi before bumping shoulders with him . “ but winter , it’s coming to an END soon . look , the snow isn’t technically snow anymore . just ice . ”
