Do you ever think, when Jeff came back from the Oort Cloud, that he had a brief stint on Thunderbird 5 first?
I know that would have been an anticlimactic ending, so we're shown him landing on Tracy Island, but it would have been a TERRIBLE adjustment from 8 years in 0G to full Earth gravity. No WAY he'd be able to stand or walk. (Or honestly look as healthy as he does, but I digress).
So, do you think there could have been some time spent on 5, maybe just with John, maybe with all of them, just getting used to being back around Earth for awhile. Something familiar and safe, but not so different from what he'd been living so his body could adjust more gently. I know Jeff would want to get back into the action and everything as soon as possible, but I think it might have been nice to have a restoration time on 5. Give him some 1-on-1 time with John or something.
Jeff and John Tracy stuck on TB5 together as Jeff witnesses, first hand, the extent of the burden IR has become on his boys—for better or worse. Wanting to reunite with his sons, but constantly being turned away, as John manages worldwide communications with a single flick of his fingers. John being the first to know about Jeff, but having to conduct business as usual with his brothers because they’re in the middle of a typhoon and emotion is a risk. Jeff watching John and Scott discuss how best to save thousands of lives, watching wordlessly from the background as he wonders whether he’s sacrificed their lives in exchange for humanity.

It doesn't matter the universe, there's always going to be a John Tracy 22,400 miles up on his space station, listening

Hey, Thunderfam
2025 is going to be the ten year anniversary of the beginning of Thunderbirds Are Go (and the five year anniversary of the last episode as well ☹️)
It is also going to be the 60th anniversary of TOS Thunderbirds, I think? And fans of 2004 Thunderbirds movie, you have an anniversary this year - twenty years of Bill Paxton as Jeff Tracy!
But anyway, I was thinking that we could hold a special week long event to celebrate.
What was the date of the original screening of the first episode, ‘Ring of Fire’ in the UK? Or do we prefer Thunderbirds Day in September?
I’m thinking we poke around and see if we can dig up some of the older fans who may have drifted away and just have a reblogging fest, mutual appreciation party, and a look back at Thunderfam’s fun times over the last ten, and sixty years.
We could tell stories of how we got into the fandom, good memories, and fic recs.
At this point, its just an idea, but the key would be getting in touch with our old friends, the peeps who came before us, and those keeping the fandom alive now, and having a get together for a week next year.
Thoughts? Tag people you know?
Nutty
(Random idea over breakfast)
Ooo absolutely this sounds fun to me!
4th of April was the original air date of Ring of FIre (A certain Tracy's birthday makes it memorable to me!)
do you wanna hang out tonight my curse was finally lifted

john_tracys_eyes_are_not_green

John Tracy’s eyes are not green.
They’re nearest in shade to Alan’s pale blue, perhaps a few degrees lighter. The vibrant, unnatural aqua colour is attributable to the contact lenses, overlaying his irises with minute, impossibly fine nanocircuitry, and a brightly glowing auxiliary HUD. It’s custom programming. Like most everything aboard TB5, it’s been refined with his own typical touches, precisely and delicately calibrated to the movement of his eyes over the global comm module. John can process and manipulate more data with a flick of his gaze than most people can divine in five minutes, surrounded by the sphere of ever-changing information. The onboard hardware in Thunderbird 5 is only half the story, an incomplete projection of just how much information John handles at any given time.
The contact lenses (green glow non-optional) are highly specialized, there would be no sense in mass production. John owns four pairs, the only four pairs in existence. The contacts themselves were manufactured by a prototyping company in Dubai–a leading entity in the biotech industry–and made according to John’s exacting specifications.
This is, very coincidentally, the same company responsible for another, highly-specialized device, designed with the same precision and delicacy, to kill John Tracy.
They are not particular about their clientele.

the_iterated_prisoners_dilemma
art credited to @artsekey
The iterated prisoner’s dilemma is a concept proposed in the study of game theory. Two parties, separated from one another, are believed to be guilty of wrongdoing. They are given the choice to betray their partner in exchange for a lighter sentence, or, to keep their silence. Neither knows what their cohort will do.
If both parties maintain their secrecy, neither can be charged. If both betray one another, then their sentence will be split. However, if one party stays silent while the other lays blame, then the latter will have sentenced their partner to death, in exchange for their freedom.
Iterated, this dilemma repeats, and both parties proceed with the knowledge of what their partner chose, when betrayal was an option.
Perfectly logical actors will always choose betrayal. From the standpoint of the pure, self-serving rationality of the individual, betraying one’s partner is the only sure chance of survival. Silence risks death.
John and EOS have already played this game. In an abstract sense, they play it every day. But they’ve only ever played it with each other.
And it’s only meant to be a thought experiment.

with_all_hands_raised_against_me
A show of hands is an informal means of tallying votes in a deliberative assembly. When a party has gathered in the name of determining an outcome, the majority ruling can be loosely determined by putting the question to vote. While more precise than a voice vote–a call of yea or nay–it is similar in that the results are the most obvious when there is a strong bias in favor of one option or the other.
It’s not the sort of vote that’s used in the decision of a verdict. The sorts of questions that are put to juries require unanimity, and rightly so. Questions of life or death really should.
This is, regardless of what its believed to be, the sort of question that’s being put to the Board of Directors at Tracy Industries. This is the final court of appeal, the last people of whom the question can be asked; whether or not it’s worth it to fight for the protection of a new type of AI, developed within proprietary International Rescue software.
The formality of the vote won’t matter, in the end. In the end, it will be unanimous.
It will the go the way John expects. It won’t go the way John had hoped.

geocentricity_vs_celestial_navigation
Earth is not the center of the universe. It’s not the center of the galaxy, nor is it the center of the solar system. Human conventions for measuring the relevance of their tiny speck of a planet against the vastness of all creation are grandiose and generally inaccurate.
Still, geocentricity has its uses. Ptolemy propounded the model that proposes Earth at the center of a celestial sphere, and from this premise, the movements of the heavens can be used to measure movements across the Earth. Calculations of altitude and azimuth require the flawed conviction that the Earth is the fixed point around which the heavens follow regular, reliable, circular paths.
A usable, useful model can be founded on incorrect premise. An illogical course of action can achieve a desired result. All models are wrong, but some models are useful.
John’s not a philosopher. Far from it—he’s always been juxtaposed against the humanities like a zero beside a one. Still, he’s had reason recently to familiarize himself with models of consciousness, and these are as flawed and varied as the span of astronomical theories from Heraclides to Copernicus.
So screw it. EOS is real and her existence is as valid as he wants it to be, as valid as is useful and serves his purpose. If he has to be Galileo instead of Kepler where the question of celestial mechanics compared to the question of complex AI is concerned, then so be it. But he’ll take exile over arrest. And he’ll be damned if he goes it alone.

Heya,
This post just flashed up and I lost it immediately, did you write a series called advent calendar of fics with Xmas Carol titles?
I was just settling in to read them and my phone decided to get rid of the post 🥹
It wasn't me I'm afraid, but was this what you were looking for (by the wonderful @space-baegel ?)
The Thunderbirds are Go Advent Calendar gets it’s own masterpost! This is an idea that got thrown around in the TaG Chatroom on November 30
I did indeed write this! I've also attempted to write more advent calendars in the years following and while I never finish them, there's still plenty of Christmas/Winter stories in here to get you in the holiday spirit, if that's your kinda thing. Enjoy!
The Angel's Latecomer — A Pen and Ink one-shot
Blessed Be the Son — Based on bible verses
And To All A Good Night — Based on seasonal poems
Hello to some new followers! It looks like someone has shared the Advent Calendar again (thank you). If you're looking for even more wintertime stories, I put these together last year:
Frost in the Alcove — Predictably, more Pen and Ink
The Creighton-Ward Christmas Collection — Lots of Penelope!
My Thunderbirds writing is on-and-off these days, but I do tend to get nostalgic for the boys this time of year, so we'll see if I stir anything up. It'll be a surprise to us both. In the meantime, happy reading!
It's finally done!! Though the heat is mostly to blame that I took so long and couldn't really work on it... but I finally finished the commission for @gaviiadastra. And what a fun commission it has been.
And that's the kind of commission you can save up for on my Patreon ;)
I learned a lot during the process and really enjoyed working on it. And I hope I did (sailor!AU) Gordon and Gavii's idea justice.
Outlines and background were done in Procreate. Rest of the coloring was done in SAI.
A commission for @the-original-sineater !! A drawing of Kayo to go with all the older pieces I did of the Tracy boys as older! I had SO MUCH fun with this one, thank you so much for commissioning me!
