One of my Christian friends made a Facebook post about how PP gave her tons of resources when she was trying to get pregnant and people were actually genuinely shocked that they provided such resources; they had fully bought into the idea that PP is just an “abortion factory”. The misinformation that’s been spread about PP is unreal.

Ok guys, I’m doing it.

This is my pro-PP rant.

Right now my husband and I are not in the best of finances. I’m struggling to find a job and he’s a grad student. Now, while our financial situation is not the best it could be, Planned Parenthood works with this kind of thing all the time.

And let me be clear on one thing:

*ahem*

PLANNED PARENTHOOD IS NOT JUST FOR ABORTIONS.

Planned Parenthood is a clinic for any and all women, regardless of race, sexual identity, religion, or income level. The staff and doctors are all professional and kind. The services they offer are wide ranging and they work with women who need female specific medical care, even if they don’t have good insurance or any insurance at all.

Example - my insurance is crap. But last month I went to Planned Parenthood and received all of the following:

Papsmear, breast cancer screening, female wellness exam, and birth control for my husband and I.

And guess how much I paid, even with my crappy insurance?

0$

That’s right, zero. Not even a co-pay. They covered it, even the birth control.

It was a safe and caring environment staffed completely by women who all supported each other and did their best to make everyone feel welcome.

Now please, go on and tell me that we don’t need this service here.

thank you all for talking about the good things that planned parenthood does. they only talk about abortions instead of focusing on the fact that they provide health care services to individuals who need them most.
