Hi! Is there going to be a big bang this year? I realise it's already later than it might usually be, but I wondered if something might happen later in the year? It would be a shame not to have another round of it. I know we've lost a lot of writers and artists since the Seb thing, but we've also gained a lot, too, and it's be interesting to see what some of them could come up with. Anyway, I thought I would ask for nothing, no pressure intended, just pure curiosity.

I have to admit I’ve been debating for a while if I should open another round because I have to admit last round got super messy for me organisation-wise since a lot of people dropped out super late in the game and people ended up without partners or there were several days without an entry once posting came around. Plus I saw the interest in general go down so I just didn’t know if this was gonna end up happening or not.

So long story shot: if you’re interested in another round of the Emmerdale Big Bang like/reblog this post and if there are enough artists and authors the I’ll open another round (posting will probably end up being early/mid december)

I count on your meta and good taste gurl. It bugged me that Robert said "i chose you" when we well know that he didnt make that choice since he was forced out of his marriage with chrissie. He didnt make a choice he just couldnt have chrissie anymore. And the other thing is a line from the reveal "you told me everything in the end and i stayed didnt i"? What the hell that supposed to mean? He also said he wanted messed up but then after one light fight and he gave aaron up LITERALLY

firstly and the whole reason i decided to answer this ask, bc i LOVE talking about this, let’s talk about if robert truly chose aaron that first time around:

It bugged me that Robert said “i chose you” when we well know that he didnt make that choice since he was forced out of his marriage with chrissie. He didnt make a choice he just couldnt have chrissie anymore.

ok, i don’t know how recently you’ve watched or rewatched the era from the lodge and chrissie/robert break up until… let’s say aaron’s reveal, because aaron’s reveal was when robert said ‘i love you’ to aaron again and really put robert and aaron back in one another’s orbits on the lead up to their eventual reunion, so

we really want to look at the period before robert did that - from the moment he lost chrissie, to him actively sort of… i guess announcing to the audience that robron was still gonna be a thing? is the best way to describe the purpose of robert saying ‘i love you’

this also high key benefits me, because that’s exactly where i’ve written up to in my break up posts (see part six and part seven)

this is convenient, because i spend those two parts talking about robert’s whole journey from being like I WANT TO BE WITH CHRISSIE AND HER MONEY to eventually being like UH CHRISSIE WHO

my theory is that after he got shot, he had a coma dream where it was just all-aaron all-the-time and he woke up like…. life is too short and i am in love with a man and his name is aaron dingle

my reasoning for this is that there is a pointed difference between how robert behaves towards both chrissie and aaron pre-coma and post-coma, even when he thinks both potentially could have tried to kill him lmao

pre-coma robert was outed against his will, first by aaron to chrissie and then by chrissie to his family (and the entire village). robert wasn’t ready to come out - he says the words “i’m straight” to vic (he also says “i’m not gay” a lot to defend himself but we have to let that slide because he wasn’t actually lying, even if he still very clearly isn’t ready to come out or talk openly about his sexuality or feelings for aaron with anyone else)

robert is clinging onto chrissie and sort of… is convinced that they can make it work, even though she’s so mad at him that she actively tries to set him on fire.

watching Malex tonight: parallels with Robron esp this:

from 2016 in the underwater, submerged, crashed car:

Aaron: “You have to go!”

Robert: “What?! No chance”

Aaron: “Robert! I’m not having you die in here because of me!”

Robert: “I’m not leaving you! No!”

Aaron: “Robert! I love you okay?! I love you! Please just go.”

Robert stays as Aaron starts to drown because there’s no way he’s letting Aaron die he’s got to save him. But if he can’t he’s gonna die in that car with Aaron cuz he can’t live without him.

Malex tonight in a building that’s about to blow up:

Michael: :They’re my family Alex!”

Alex: “Alright, maybe but you are mine!”

Michael: “What?! You have to go Alex!”

Alex: “I don’t look away Guerin!”

Michael: “No! Go! Go! I don’t love you! I don’t! We were holding onto this thing but look it’s gotten us nowhere. Just let go.”

Alex: “You’re a miserable liar.”

Love how Alex knew he was lying & was willing to stay in that building if he couldn’t get Michael out. That’s love...... 

Same sentiment with both Robron and Malex but different words lol.

Plus Malex’s “I don’t look away.” is Robron’s “You know, I know.”

I don’t watch Roswell, New Mexico but I’ve seen talk about Malex so much on both my twitter and tumblr timelines that I feel familiar with them haha. Anyway, what they’re going thru right now reminds me of something my favorite m/m ship(Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle from Emmerdale) went thru two years ago: Robert like Michael is bisexual & one night while wanting to hurt Aaron for pushing him away had a drunken ONS with a woman while being married to Aaron(now the marriage wasn’t legal-long story but alas) the woman ended up getting pregnant and this led to Aaron and Robert breaking up. Yeah they loved each other and as much as they did, they let each other go. This was a case of love not being enough at the time and as much as the break up hurt me and the fandom: looking back it was needed. Both grew up a lot during the time they were broken up, learned things about themselves that made them stronger and their love stronger than it was before the separation. Now flash forward to two years later, Aaron and Robert are happily(legally) married and wanting to start their own family: after everything they made it. Who knows Malex may too. 

Now this isn’t the same situation to Alex and Michael because Michael seems to have some kind of feelings for Maria while Robert didn’t for Rebecca he just used her for revenge.Then there’s the whole Alien aspect too. Plus, Michael’s need to find that home he’s searching for which may also lead to Alex letting him go. But I see the parallels between Malex and Robron. Mainly because at first Robert refused to let Aaron go because he knew that was the love of his life much like Alex is doing with the stone at the moment, but in the end he did because he wanted Aaron happy and it broke his heart but he set him free. I can see Alex doing this too for the man he loves and like Aaron cameback to Robert maybe Michael will return to Alex too.
