if you’ve seen my blog at all, it really shows i’ve always believed that henri was the person who raim lost the harvest festival to.
so im getting this out before i read the new chapter on henri’s backstory.
reasons for the theory below:
1) They’re my favourite characters.
2) We know four characters have previously won the Harvest Festival before canon: Ameri, Balam, Henri and Derkila. The audience is shown Ameri and Balam’s win, but not Henri or Derkika’s. And Derkila is a given for not being the man in question.
3) This plot point of Raim’s has been left unanswered for so long for lore reasons kept secret from the audience. We already see how Balam operates. There is a lot of mystery about the Naberius Clan and its influence on Kalego’s character, to be fair.
4) Keeping the “person who won” and the “person who wasn’t seduced” seperate. While not definitive at all, to fail to seduce this one specific person implies she seduced the others. Whether it is either Balam or Kalego is well debated, so either Balam won and didn’t get seduced but Kalego did, or Balam won and got seduced while Kalego didn’t, who still lost. Of course, there’s leeway for other interpretations set in this timeline, but I disagree with basing it around this time.
5) Carrying on with the hypothetical from above, there were zero mentions of Raim in Kalego Gaiden.
5.5) On a side note in Kalego Gaiden there was actually a line about a stimulant being created from “lovelinth developed by the succubus tribe” and “fabled wicked wine minamocule” valued by Azazel clan. You know who canonically obtains drugs (and gives them to Clara? Gives them to Baby-chan.) Raim. Clearly this means their shady ingredients got misappropriated. Yep.
6) The Chapter 294.5 sukima from the Deviculum Arc. They know each other well as seen by their general interaction, the banter, and the fact that he mentions he considers himself married off-handedly. While Raim doesn’t attend the Deviculum herself, being in charge of disguising him (naturally) means that she knows the Naberius Narnia of the event is, in-fact, Azazel Henri, with the disguise itself requiring the authorisation of the 13 Crowns; Henri was unable to inform Kalego about the switch because it was so tightly kept.
7) mairuma has a lot to say about the undefined nature of love (see: Second Batra Party Arc), the succubus gimmick is only just one part of it. Raim and Henri’s dynamic would fit the themes so far; she has a flexible perspective on love and her flirty personality can likewise coexist with his lack of romantic feelings for her. Can you tell I see them as queerplatonic yet.
8) As of Chapter 427, I believe Raim’s last appearance was Chapter 212 (sukimas 213.5 and 294.5 excluded) where the Misfits received gifts from mentors and those who hold connection to the 13 Crowns; in short, she hasn’t shown up in just over half the manga. The questions she raised in the Harvest Festival is left unanswered and logically we’re due for an appearance now that we’ve panned to other characters, the other teachers found in the Heartbreaker or the Second Batra Arc. The Museum Arc was a long one (though not the longest.) Now that we’ve started Henri’s lore, Henri being that person in Raim’s past fulfils multiple things in mairuma.
9) Did I mention that they’re my favourite characters?

in the comic, sua - mizi’s ultimate source of trauma - was a manifestation of her guilt and self loathing. for knowing sua was rehearsing her death and saying nothing. for wanting to survive. for being cunning and pretending innocence. for her love being twisted.
in karma, sua’s manifestation is comforting. mizi is just someone who searched for love and loved in turn. alien stage is alight. she can hear till’s heartbeat. hope will bloom and wither and bloom again.
