I'm moving into a studio apartment with no laundry nearby (the closest is a laundromat a 15 minute walk away. I dont have a car). Im thinking of getting a compact washer (the one I'm looking at is hella small and like 75$) and air drying, or getting a handheld wash bag (like scrubba, $50 I think). I have a friend I could go to for large things like blankets every now and then but Im broke and I want to be independent. What do you think?
One of my best friends just got a compact washer and she LOVES IT. She says it's a great return on investment and fits neatly in her little carriage house. So that's an endorsement from us!
Also: I personally live in a desert climate and line-dry most of my laundry on a retired climbing rope tied between two fence posts in my backyard. Works great and on a sunny day with a breeze it's faster than the dryer.

I live in the currently very dank humid midwest, and I’m in a ~garden apartment~ so I’m hovering at about 70% humidity. BUT I am still able to dry my laundry on one of those fold out racks just fine! (there is something in my lease that mentions we are not allowed to dry our laundry outside, which is very weird because this building doesn’t really have a yard???)
Fans make drying go faster, box fans are $10-20, but in non-high humidity my clothes usually dry in a day without any fan.
DO get one of those meshy lint trap things for the drain pipe. I got one meant for a regular washer and cut it down, then zip tied it onto the drain hose. My washer has a filter thingy already with it, but it definitely was not catching everything. I miiight have gunked up my bathtub drain with all the lint that wasn’t getting caught before I thought to do this.
