I understand that this is a comparatively petty gripe, given the predatory nature of most pay-to-win games, but it also burns my ass how pay-to-win style mechanics are creeping into other genres of games where it doesn’t make any sense for them to be present.

Like, bro, you get that the explicit purpose of this particular class of game mechanics is to deliberately render a specific portion of the gameplay loop so tedious and unpleasant that people are willing to pay money to skip it, right?

When you include these types of mechanics in games where there isn’t any option to pay, you’re just torturing your players for no reason.
