It’s so weird that Daisy Ridley is eyeballing that Lara Croft role in the Tomb Raider reboot, like, sure Star Wars was really big but you can’t just be a beloved space hero in one franchise and also be a big name as some kind of combat archeologist. Who’s ever doubled up like that?

remember when ghostbusters came out in ‘84 and the headlines were all “first look at annie potts as ‘ghostbusters’ character”? no. no, you don’t.

you know how on IMDB when you look up the original ghost busters* movie and annie potts’ name is the first one listed? no. no, you don’t.

this is a film helmed by, and mostly known for, an all-female main cast. all of the main characters are played by women - hell, the poster features a woman’s face (see above). why is this suddenly hemsworth’s film?

don’t get me wrong, i really dig the guy, and i think his role in the film as the ladies’ secretary adds to the strength of its fuck-your-gender-roles attitude. however, he’s clearly not the cotter pin holding the wheel onto this film.

I agree with the vast majority of this, but I will mention that IMDB ranks the cast by their Starmeter value, which has a few factors, but mostly is has to with how many people visit the page of the actor.  And Chris Hemsworth probably wins that purely because of Thor.  So in this case, I’m not 100% sure that a crappy algorithm is the enemy here, but #1 is all kinds of legit and in general the point behind this post is very true, and I’m extremely excited for this movie for the very reason that they have flipped the genders completely.  I just think IMDB ranking doesn’t have much to do with the issue at hand.  Also, Scott is the best, period.
