The Long and Winding Road to Nihilism
Nietzsche was quite clear about his distaste for Christianity, but also concerned himself about the state of man’s spirit once the construct of its guidance and purpose-giving doctrine managed to lose favor among people in great numbers.
Of the religious mindset Nietzsche said, among many things, this: “It is the profound, suspicious fear of an incurable pessimism which compels whole centuries to fasten their teeth into a religious interpretation of existence: the fear of the instinct which divines that truth might be attained TOO soon, before man has become strong enough, hard enough, artist enough…”
While I disagree with his distaste and remedy, I certainly share his concern for the inevitable relativity that lies at the end of the path away from divine metaphysical morality, where at least an axiomatic claim to moral origin and dominion formed a solid foundation from which to build a society.
Omg not you too... a friend of mine is knees-deep into the philosophic thought of nihilism. And i dont know how much more of it i can take
