I’m Billy, and I’m 26, physically disabled, and mentally ill and disordered. I haven’t been able to work for a few years and still need to fight for disability income. My family consists of my disabled mother, my elderly grandmother, my 16 year old brother, our dog, and cat. We currently all share a single motel room with 2 beds ever since we lost our apartment last year for numerous circumstances. We’ve spent since around July in this particular room. The two to three months prior we spent living day by day trying to scrape money for motel rooms, spending a night on the street, and unable to receive aid from any organization or church; even the family homeless shelter was full at the time and could not help us. Most places we tried to get into were full and had to openings for a fair while during that time of the year. Now we have a chance to get into a place, but finances have been strained again this month, and we barely have enough for a months rent at the cheapest available apartment. We can get deposit taken care of, but the pet deposit is also something we have to worry about. The close quarters we live in has strained us all emotionally, and arguments with my grandmother who is getting on in years and getting mean in her age have become worse. It’s made it impossible to keep her safe too having to live on the second story, as she’s very headstrong about being independent despite the many falls she’s taken. I also have a partner by the name of Audra who is physically disabled, mentally ill, discorded, and autistic. His struggle with his health has caused him to need to drop out of community college entirely, and he hasn’t been getting the medical attention he needs. He lives in an abusive and manipulative home life situation where his own SSI is in someone else’s hands and he’s struggled to get any of it back with the way things currently stand. He is stripped of a lot of his own agency, and the person he lives with avidly convinces others that he is “special needs” and that he needs to be treated this way. We already planned on me coming to get him, and to bring him back home with me once we have a place to live to get him out of there to give him a better chance at a decent and happy life. I have some money saved away that was initially intended for a visit only, before the change of plans. I would need back up cash to ensure I have enough to take him back with me, and to be able to pay the fees for what luggage he brings. I would of course, also need a home to bring him back to, a decent home for my family. Audra is willing to take commissions (3-4 at a time) to help towards the fundraising.
