Someone else ruined it for everyone else. Some horrible, savage in individual that came into this place and just–… tore it all apart. Was that their purpose for coming down here? To cause destruction where no one could stop them?
More questions came, however. For one…– Monsters? The same as he heard about in the history books that no one on the surface seemed to take notice to, any longer? The same history books described as ‘surely fictional’ by most?
Much was made clear with this revelation, but it didn’t mean it was any easier for him to swallow. So many conclusions, drawn. And a much better understanding of just how terrible it must’ve been for the Monsters to be locked away for so long. Just for…
Just for some vile entity in Human skin to come into the Underground and begin killing all that came in their path.
The distrust was well-warranted. But that didn’t mean Laersect was just going to lay his neck upon the metaphorical guillotine over the sins of another. He had his own justice to reap on the Surface. That had nothing to do with these creatures. The Monsters did nothing to him, save for…
Thankfully… so far, it was just this robot. Such a shame, too. He seemed charming, whoever he was. But he was dangerous and unwavering. He couldn’t help but respect him for this fact. But that didn’t change the fact that he had to force his way through.
He only hoped that the Monsters outside of these Ruins were less stubborn.
He had no quarrel down here.
He hated none of these creatures.
Enough so to where he was willing to FIGHT to survive.
“Then I’m afraid… you’ll simply have to let me pass.” he’d reply in a hoarse, cold voice as his head rose. His dulled expression growing taut. Fighting back sadness. Fear, before it finally settled upon looking… resolute. Yet cold, begrudging and clearly displeased.
A look of someone who knew more than well, what had to be done in spite of their own wants and desires.
“If you insist on hunting me, so be it. I will simply have to subdue you.”
There was a swell. Something heavy, in the air. MAGIC, as Laersect stepped behind the bend around the corner. Just what was his plan? If one were to turn ‘round the corner… the corridor would seemingly empty.
And yet… his voice came through. Like a specter, through the shadows.
“It’s ironic… is it not? For me to be marked as the threat, when I wish to harm none of your kind.”
It was… close, yet not close. Perhaps a CHECK would be appropriate. After all Mettaton being a robot… even with Laersect’s use of magic, surely he could see more than most could.
“You seek to kill me. I seek only to leave in peace…”
It was implied that he had no intention of destroying Mettaton, even in these circumstances.
Mercy, right out the gate.
“I refuse to destroy you. But do what you must, Guardian.”
Should he CHECK, Mettaton would notice Laersect in the shadows… cloaked, but– moving at erratic speeds. Even injured, his movements were fluid… quick.
Almost like that of a Ghost.
At times, he’d seem to entirely disappear before re-appearing only a short distance from the originally location. Ready to dodge out of the way of a shot from that cannon, by the looks of it. Surely an incantation inspired by the capabilities of Ghosts, down in the Underground. How VERY curious.
In essence… Laersect was fully on the defensive, for now. Sizing up his opponent. Unaware that his choice in incantation might… just backfire.
