I think this ship (spaceship) is really funny
happy iron lung day to all who celebrate
Hey…. Hey… Characters covered in blood, okay? You remember characters covered in blood?? You used to love characters covered in blood
the concept of Ryland Grace teaching middle school kids therefore being vaguely aware who markiplier is and then meeting simon iron lung and getting so confused is frying my brain
yeah let’s put mister Simon “grew up in a cult and is now experiencing bodily autonomy for the first time” Iron Lung in the same biodome as Ryland “hasn’t felt the touch of something non mechanical or non alien against his skin in several years” Grace. I’m sure nothing will occur.
what if…
Meet cute? Uhhhh not with these two I don't think
I really wanted to add more to this but I didn't have any solid foundation — legit just started drawing and boom, bloodymary! Still, I'm hoping to write a one-shot based on this soon :3

1975-1982: hardcore buildup era
1983-1994ish: Classic Emo, so your Rites of Spring through Jawbreaker through SDRE and Jimmy Eat World at the tail end
1995-2000: Technically still Classic Emo in terms of genre identifiers for the time BUT with sudden influence from Y2K/end of world fears, and media-wise reactive to the anti-goth/anti-alt sentiment post columbine in 99.
2001-2008: Emo Revival Generation. Your Fall Out Boy, MCR, P!atD, etc. (fun fact- when discussing anything other than the history of emo culture and timelines, i do not consider any of those three "emo" personally.) The two most distinct shifts are in genre markers- rather than tracing sound inspiration directly back to Chicago and Jersey and NY hardcore, you're now Specificlaly noticing sounds inspired BY Jawbreaker or BY Sunny Day Real Estate, etc. The second shift is marketing- digital fandom is priority. You saw how easy it was to get sad teenagers to blog your song as they felt the world was ending, so now create your own Livejournal account to encourage more of that kind of posts. Bands were being discovered THROUGH social media. Also, emo got sexier
2008: The Financial Crisis and second Pop Punk boom of the 2000s.
2009-2014: This is still considered to be part of the Emo Revival generation by many fans, but I want to add a sub category here for bands debuting who were specifically inspired by other Emo Revival bands. You can tie FOB back to Jawbreaker, but Waterparks is sonically closer to FOB and some digital alt artists than they are 70s Hardcore. These are your bands doing the Emo Thing, but specifically designed for online fandom consumption. This also was when many, many emo bands in the zeitgeist got signed by major labels.
2012*-2020: Partially simultaneously, trap and rap artists heavily inspired by both Classic and Emo Revival begin encorporating genre identifiers into their tracks. JuiceWrld, XXXTentacion, Lil Peep, etc. MCR's breakup also spawned many tribute and inspired acts.
2015-2020: The Emo Regret era. Quiffs, sleeveless gym tees, vans with the new extra bendy soles, and Power Pop inspiration. Whether you say this begins in 2013 or 2015 depends on who your favourite band is, but these were some of the cleanest, most corporatized emo we've seen yet. Most genre identification is done from song lyrics and whether or not the artist "used to be emo."
2020: Lockdown starts (btw covid never left, look at wastewater levels). In a few years, I think we'll be calling the era we entered Emo Nostalgia or something of the like. Interest in Classic and Revival Emo surged during covid. Acts like Negative25, Grandson, etc. are having their "Tiktok Moment."
2020-Current, october of 2025: Very much within the Emo Nostalgia era, but seeing a shift back to the encorporation of Hardcore and Post Hardcore. Artists who mix various metal inspirations, like Poppy and Spiritbox, are ripping into the mainstream. The Emo Trinity (fob, mcr, p!atd) are all currently active (though not all in the same way), and many people feel the "poptimism" of music in the past twenty years is dying off. We're also seeing intense genre influence from Folk, Outlaw Country, RnB, and more encorporations of breakbeats, less strings and more MIDI synths, rap breakdowns or sections for MCing, and some Stomp Clap Hey sprinkled throughout. Homestyledinnerroll's debut album is out on halloween btw :)
vampire buddies :3
Still fuming we didn’t get Steve at any point in the season in this outfit. In my opinion one of his best outfits and it’s for a coca-cola advert 😭😭
