Meulin curled up in her bed, wrapping each blanket tightly around herself. She needed a hug, but she didn't know who to ask for one. Blankets would have to do. She closed her eyes, going somewhere and somewhen else. ---------- Kurloz had just returned to the hive. Her ears perked up as she heard him call for her. "IM HOME KITTY." Meulin jumped up to greet him and gleefully snuggled up in his arms. She nuzzled his cheek and asked how his day went. During their conversation, they made their way over to a comfy place to sit. She had spent the day hunting, so she was particularly worn out. He was as well. Their voices faded to whispers, and their whispers lapsed into silence. They had both fallen asleep. Suddenly Meulin was forced awake. There was a horrible stabbing pain coming from her inner ears. She looked to Kurloz, who appeared to be screaming in his sleep. Except she couldn't hear it. She shouted for him to wake up and he bolted upright in fear. Meulin still couldn't hear a thing. She tentatively brought her hand up to her ear and felt something wet and sticky. It was her own Olive blood. Kurloz had begun to panic, trying to help clean up the blood and see if there was anything he could do to help. For Meulin, the world was silent for the first time. She couldn't tell what was going on. All she knew was that she was in pain and she had gone deaf. Later that night, after trying everything he possible could, Kurloz broke down. He said something but Meulin couldn't understand him. He pointed to the recooperacoon, indicating that she should go to sleep for now. She obeyed, still exhausted and frightened to death. The next morning, Meulin was still deaf. She awoke to indigo blood all over the floor. On the table were sewing supplies, as well as a note, both drenched in blood. "IM SO SORRY KITTY. I MADE IT SO THAT IT CAN NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. :o(" She ran out of the hive to see Kurloz laying on the ground in a pool of his own blood. She let out a scream in terror as she saw his face. Indigo blood was spewing from his mouth, which was being held together with stitches. His lips were being ripped apart by the thread, and Meulin could see the flesh of his chewed out tongue on the ground in front of him. He looked up at her apologetically, with a tear rolling down his cheek. ---------- Meulin woke up, in a cold sweat. She might have screamed, but there was no way of knowing for sure. The image of Kurloz's face was burned into her thinkpan. She got up and went to her dresser, tears streaming down her face. When she reached the clothing storage compartments, she opened the top drawer and pulled out one of Kurloz's old shirts. She put it on over her pajamas and returned to her bed, holding the fabric close. She sobbed for the rest of the night, too terrified to return to sleep.
