Mezcal Margarita Recipe with Casamigos Mezcal
Mezcal Margarita Ricipe with Casamigos Mezcal, a great mezcal cocktail recipe to prepare. This is a very simple mezcal cocktail recipe with a few ingredients. I don't often sip my Mezcal Casamigos, so I figured I'd pull it off the shelf and use it in a mezcocktail recipe. Mezcal Margarita Ingredients 2 oz Mezcal Casamigos 1 oz Controy Orange Liquor 3/4oz Fresh Lime juice 1 bar spoon of agave syrup Gran Mitla chapulin salt Mezcal Margarita Recipe Rim your glass with the Gran Mitla sal de chapulin and chill with ice. Add the mezcal, orange liquor, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup to your shaker with ice, and shake for about 15 seconds. Strain and pour over your chilled glass and garnish with a lime wheel. Enjoy! My Alembic Copper Still - Mezcal Distillation
I’ve decided to try and see if I can do some home distillations. I recently picked up this Copper Alembic for distilling and would love to distill some Mezcal.
However, I don’t know where I’ll get some small enough amounts of cooked agave to ferment and then distill for this little guy. So, I’m going to start of with distilling pulque. Are you familiar with that? You can check out a video I did on my channel, of Mezcal vs Destilado de Pulque as well.

Have you ever seen how maestro mezcaleros measure the abv of their mezcal? Check out as I demonstrate how with three different mezcales and abv’s using the badass venencia I picked up in Oaxaca.
Salvadores Mezcal Artesanal is produced by maestro mezcalero Flavio Perez Mendez in Tlacolula de Matamoros Oaxaca. This batch is a Mezcal Joven made from Agave Karwinskii Cirial and sometimes known as "Largo". This depends on what region it is being produced. 48% abv Agave roasted in conical stone pit crushed by Tahona Fermented in wooden tubs Double distilled in Copper. I get my hands on a small but very special quantity of Puntas de mezcal. This was a gift from a friend of mine so it's in an unmarked bottle of mezcal. Puntas is the first part of the mezcal that begins to come out of the alembic in the second distillation and that contains a high alcoholic percentage (55º to 80º% Alc. Vol. This mezcal joven espadin, has a total of 57%abv. Puntas de Mezcal
Cannabis-infused things are a thing... So it seems obvious that I’d find a Mezcal infused with Cannabis. I got my hands on Mezcal El Viajero Cannabico and did a mezcal tasting and review for you!
This is a Mezcal Industrial, but overall, this is a good-tasting mezcal. Check it out!
Mezcal Pulquero vs. Destilado de Pulque has been a conversation of debate I've noticed in some othe the Mezcal groups I'm in. "It's all Mezcal" "It was Mezcal" first, is the general discussion I've been seeing. Historically and traditionally that rings true, especially when speaking of Mezcal Pulquero, which is mezcal made from the agave salmiana, or american - which are both used in the production of pulque.
Pulque is the fermented agua miel (or agave sap/nectar) that is extracted from the agaves stock, or quiote when most of the sugars of its lifetime are concentrated. Pulque has been a sacred beverage for many of the indigenous civilizations of the Americas for thousands of years. When the Spanish came to the Americas, they found that the indigenous communities were fermenting this spirit for a sacred purpose and not all members of the community can consume it. Pulque later becomes secular, and different periods of prohibition follow.
The Spanish brought the technology of distillation with the alambique and soon began to distil the fermentation of pulque. The Spanish also found that maguey or agave was being consumed, and cooked in underground pits. The Nahuatl word for cooked agave is Mexcalli, which the Spanish adapted to Mezcal, to describe the cooked agave and later the Mexican spirit produced from the cooked agave, Mezcal.

80-90% of mezcal is produced from Agave Espadín (tequilana weber's ancestor) - When searching for a good mezcal, consider a mezcal "ancestral" or "artesanal" and keep in mind the variety of agave! That doesn't mean there aren't some wonderful Espadín out there! This is Guëro Mezcalero's Espadín Joven - with fresh fruitful aromas and smooth mineral taste.
