Leonard Snart as Gibbs, former Marine, yet rumors of him being part of a special squad (“Seal Team Six,” the interns whisper as if that’s not a totally different branch) or even Black Ops abound. He’s got scary skills and a seemingly endless list of rules (half of which are in no way regulation, or probably even legal) all team members are required to memorize, despite the fact that none of these rules are written down. Anywhere.
Add to that another seemingly endless list of romantic conquests and current love interests, none of whom have ever melted his ice-cold heart. He’s the only NCIS agent with a perfect record for solving every case he’s assigned. He’s practically a legend, with a legendary nickname: Captain Cold.
Barry Allen is a new hire, pulled from a local PD wasting his talent in a lab that was barely up to code. His extended “family”- Detectives Joe and Iris West and Captain Singh- still work there.
Detective Iris West frequently calls in cases she knows are NCIS’s jurisdiction, sometimes before official chain of command. That’s how Smart met Allen- Barry was still poking around the crime scene when Len and his team showed up, and managed to simultaneously put his foot in his mouth and knock their socks off.
Len’s team is his sister, Lisa Snart, and reformed arsonist and childhood best friend Mick Rory. Is that regulation either? No one knows.
(The rest of the Rogues are various teams throughout NCIS, I leave it up to better writers to figure out their team arrangements. Or are they still criminals?)
Cisco Ramon and Hartley Rathaway are NCIS headquarters’ resident geek squad, who will school you all day any day in the finer points of nerd trivia while also processing evidence and handing back results. They’re a little weird- the music in their lab ranges from classical to classic rock to pop, Hartley follows the dress code to a T while Cisco seems unaware there is one- but that doesn’t mean all the teams don’t love them. (Word to the wise: If you need evidence processed fast, a Big Gulp and a cup of Earl Grey will have it on your desk before the end of the day.)
Caitlin Snow and Doctor Martin Stein work in the morgue, a seemingly odd choice for their personalities, but it fits. Caitlin is brisk, businesslike, and to the point. She also thinks her brains are the only worthwhile thing about her- but don’t worry, new hire Ronnie Raymond might be changing that soon. Stein is kind, professorly, and tends to ramble on for ages- but at least his stories are interesting. Did he tell you yet about that one time in the war...?
(Jax Jackson gets brought in as the intern later on in the season. He likes working with a team and learning on the job, and this internship is going to open up a lot of doors for him. Pro ball is out of the question after a busted leg, so why not become a doctor instead? No goal is too high.)
Harrison Wells is a scientific rockstar and the idealistic, passionate Director of NCIS. The FBI and CIA are headed by Eobard Thawne and Tina McGee, respectively.
Thawne, Thawne...why does that sound familiar? Any relation to new hire Eddie Thawne, seemingly intent on building his own team before the year is out and having Barry on it?
(Not if Len has anything to say about that.)
That’s just the NCIS building in Central City. The one in Starling is even crazier...but that’s what happens when you have two Lance sisters, the world’s best hacker, a soldier-turned-bodyguard-turned-agent, two rich kids who rejected the family business, and a former street kid out to raise hell crammed under one roof.
Welcome to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service!
(This AU would begin with all characters in relatively the same characterization as Flash Season 1, which is why not all characters are listed.)
My, that’s a ship that literally had me from hello.
Wentworth Miller’s voice alone has me swooning, but damn, the man is amazing and he plays Captain Cold so well.
The chemistry and dynamic between Cold and Barry was brilliant from the get-go.
It really is a brilliant dynamic, especially considering the Arrow problem of having only insane, batshit crazy, irredeemable villains who would be best just killed off.
That Flash got suave villains who are all in for the banter is just gorgeous.
This game of cat and mouse between Lenny and Barry is so much fun and it got better with every single episode that Lenny was in.
I both hated and loved Legends when it started, because for one, it removed Lenny from Flash, but on the other side, it fleshed Lenny out more and also made him a… well, a hero in his own right.
Yet I am still a bigger fan of Rogue!Lenny than Legends!Lenny, truth be told.
Serious trigger warnings for all content beneath the cut. Sexual assault, assault, harassment, depression, and others. Please proceed with caution.
It’s been over a year since I’ve last been active, and today I’ve managed to find the courage to write this. I want to tell you all why. I need to tell someone why.
This time last year, I was in a very bad place. Scroll two posts down for more details on that situation. If you don’t want to track down that post, essentially what was happening is I was bullied and harassed to the point I was severely depressed and contemplating suicide.
Things got worse about a week after, because some friends of mine in real life found this blog. Somehow they tracked an old gmail to my main tumblr, and I have crossposted a few times, so they found me here. And they just destroyed me. My fan fiction, my head canons, my character theories, everything. I was a freak on the internet, I was sick, I was projecting onto fictional characters, and more.
(I have voluntarily shared this blog with other real life friends, so someone in real life knowing is not a problem. The people who found out were the problem.)
Around this time, I was also receiving a significant amount of anon hate on this blog for the pairings I chose to ship as well as my personal headcanons. I blocked and deleted what I could, but it was tough. I felt like this blog wasn’t a safe space for me anymore.
The next week my laptop broke permanently- it was an old model. I loved that thing, though, and I just didn’t have the energy to set up my account on a new device, or even log in on a school library computer.
I guess you could say I just sort of existed for a while.
I kept myself alive for a very long time, and right around January of 2018 things started to improve for me mentally and socially. I was going out and had a stable relationship and I felt like I was getting better for good.
On January 28th I was “sexually assaulted” by one of my best friends.
I went to visit her dorm room to say hi, and she was acting strange. She was drunk. I didn’t know she was drunk, because I wasn’t popular in high school, I didn’t go to parties, and no one in my family drinks regularly. I just thought she was acting strange. I was there for what felt like minutes and then her behavior started to change rapidly, really rapidly. She attacked her roommate, a friend of both of ours. I gave that roommate my phone and the keys to my room and told her to go get help. Then I locked the door so the other girl couldn’t follow her out.
Serious trigger warning for next two paragraphs.
While we were alone in the room, she raped me. I was so afraid and freaked out and terrified that I didn’t even think of unlocking the door, and I didn’t want to leave her alone. So she went after me.
About halfway through, all the alcohol she had drank hit her, and she threw up in my mouth while kissing me. I guess that jolted me back to reality, because I was able to crawl away while she threw up everywhere.
I was running on autopilot. I got the suite mate to call the RA, then the Person On Duty for the dorm building. I dragged this girl over to the shower and tilted her head so she wouldn’t choke herself on her own vomit and I kept her alive for what felt like hours. I got new clothes for her and put them on and rode in the ambulance to the hospital with her. I called her family from the hospital room and comforted her younger sister and looked this girl (who didn’t remember anything) in the eye and told her I wasn’t mad and it was going to be okay.
At the end of the night I went back to her dorm room and I cleaned up all the alcohol and the vomit.
The next day I got up and went to class, the first day of classes for the spring semester. I went to class and I took notes and then I walked into the university’s counseling center and broke down because I didn’t have the words for what had happened to me.
I reported the girl, the friend, who assaulted me. It was the right thing to do, and it made everything so much worse. (I didn’t celebrate my birthday three days later because there was nothing to celebrate.) I didn’t spread the story of what had happened around, because I didn’t want to ruin this girl’s life. I just wanted her gone.
When she got back, she took the chance to spread an entirely different story about what happened that night.
I had a letter of no contact against this girl. She showed up at athletics meetings anyway, so I left my position as a starting player for the soccer team because they didn’t believe me. At least, they didn’t support me and no one defended me. I moved rooms because my roommate, who was also a member of the soccer team, lied to my face about still being friends with this girl and spied on me for her. Was I getting a lawyer? Was I going to sue the school? Was I going to try and take her to court?
You know what petty is? Petty is asking for used makeup back that was given as a gift when I moved rooms because by now, the roommate of the girl who’d raped me hated me too.
Harassment and rumors followed. I had an STD, I’d given it to this girl. I lied about the assault for attention. I just didn’t want to get in trouble for drinking that night. Whatever else they could come up with.
As the rumors got worse, my friendship with my new roommate crumbled. She had a serious problem with our suite mates, who I thought were cool, and would tell me all the bad things they said about me. (Then she’d tell them all the bad things I said about them.) I started sleeping in the library and computer labs because my grades were suffering too. Then someone came to me and told me she’d been spreading rumors about me too, for months, while supporting me to my face. A day later I reported her to Residence Life & Housing for having unregistered guests in our room and smoking substances. She turned it around on me and made me feel guilty for going to administration. Then the next day, someone else reported her for a different violation, and by the end of that week she was gone.
Throughout all of this, my school tried to bury what had happened. After months of investigation, an incredibly biased report came to me that said she was not guilty. I fought the report and kept fighting it from the end of February until early May, from the Title IX (Sexual Harassment) Department to an ad hoc committee of Deans. The final judgement was that I wasn’t raped.
So I had to transfer.
You know how much it sucks to go through the process of applying to college as a high school senior? It’s worse the second time around, and I still haven’t heard back from any colleges I applied to. My future is up in the air. My family doesn’t even want me to go to half of the colleges I applied to, so that’s another ongoing fight.
I went from the best possible beginning of the year to the lowest point in my entire life.
It’s finals week right now, and I’m struggling to pass. I’m not recovering from what’s happened to me, not even close. My relationship with my boyfriend is falling apart too, because he keeps pushing things when I say “no” and I just screamed and cried about it because he reminds me so much of her. I’ve lost nearly every friend I had, and I’m trying to hard not to push away the precious few that are left. Both of my sisters hate me. I don’t want to go home over summer, but I didn’t have a choice, so I signed up for a job an hour away just so I don’t have to pretend I love my family. I have panic attacks and my depression is worse than it’s ever been. The psychiatrist says I have PTSD, and I don't sleep well because of nightmares.
But I am alive.
It’s been a year. I am alive. I have kept myself alive.
I know how long and awful of a read this has been. If you’ve made it this far, I’m so sorry. I don’t have anywhere else to go, or anyone else to talk to- if this even counts as talking. There’s more to the story, but this is all I can type for now.
This tumblr is one of the things in my life that I am proudest of. (Yes, I know how pathetic that sounds). I made friends here I still care about, and I had so many good times. I felt like I was a part of something bigger. Yes, it was just a tumblr about a silly superhero show to begin with, but it’s funny how humanity slips in when you’re not looking.
I want to come back here. I want to write and reblog and post and talk again. I want to do more of what makes me happy.
Over the next several days, I’m going to try and reach out to everyone that I left behind. I miss all of you, and if you have any questions, or any posts you want to talk about, or theories, or anything like what we used to do...I’m here.
Pain don't hurt the same, I know/ the lane I travel feels alone/ but I'm moving 'til my legs give out/ and I see my tears melt in the snow/ But I don't wanna cry/ I don't wanna cry anymore/ I wanna feel alive/ I don't even wanna die anymore...
Hi guys. I know it’s been a while since I’ve been regularly active so I just want to update you all on what’s going on.
For the past several years of my life I’ve struggled with depression, and recently things got very bad. There really isn’t one reason, a lot of things just started going downhill all at once.
To sum up the worst events: there’s a guy in one of my courses who is violently homophobic and has frequently targeted me, I’m dealing with a bully who’s telling me to ‘kill myself,’ and the course load of my classes is extra stressful right now. I also broke up with a boyfriend not too long ago that I as really trying to make things work with, so that contributed as well.
As a result there were a few weeks where I became suicidal again. I didn’t self-harm, and I obviously didn’t kill myself, but I’m not fine either. I’m trying to get there, though. I’m trying to make things work. I’m going to see a psychiatrist again, I may switch therapists, and there’s also the possibility of changing the medication I’m on. The bullying and harassment has also been taken to school administration, so I may see some results there.
This is all intensely personal and I hope you all understand how much of a struggle this has been. I’m not trying to gain sympathy- please don’t pity me, I don’t want that- I just want to let you all know why I haven’t been there for you.
Hopefully I’ll have the time and energy to get on more regularly soon. Until then, thank you all for your patience.
I don't get the "he called me Leo" thing. Is Len upset bc Barry is losing his mind? Is he from another timeline somehow?
I actually wrote that prompt very ambiguously, so it could be either. The general idea of the prompt was that Barry is using a nickname he doesn’t- or shouldn’t- use, and therefore Len is worried.
To go a bit more in-depth, there’s a headcanon within the fandom that Len being called ‘Leo’ means something is wrong. It originally stemmed from Len’s relationship with his father. ‘Leo’ is a very common nickname for people named Leonard, yet Lisa (Len’s sister) calls him ‘Lenny’ instead. That created this idea that Len’s father used to call him ‘Leo,’ which is why he hates that nickname and refuses to be called it.
So the darker undertone of that prompt was that Barry is using this nickname Len’s abuser called him for years, a nickname that he has a mentally and physically violent reaction to, and didn’t care. Barry knows Len’s history with his father, so there’s no reason for him to intentionally harm Len like that.
I’ve got it! Due to the Oculus’s destruction, Len Snart is blown through the time-space continuum. He awakens in a universe not his own, with a girl in a red skirt… not to mention a red cape… standing over him.
“Hey there, mister? Are you okay? Welcome to National City!”
AND THUS BEGINS THE GREATEST PARTNERSHIP OF ALL TIME.
But seriously…Kara pushes a combination of Len’s buttons for catching his interest–kick ass, ray of sunshine, brilliant, stubborn, determined. A combination of traits that exist in Lisa, Sara, and Barry. I totally want an awesome fic where Len ends up on Earth 3 and pops into existence like mid-fight between Kara and…someone that Len would automatically dislike…someone telling Kara to ‘run home like a good little girl’ or something. So Kara sees him falling out of nowhere, catches him, puts him down. Len’s dazed but thrilled to be in one damn piece…and he’s probably pretty close to Central, since the blonde’s obviously a meta.
So the villain is an ass, Len helps Kara because he has his gun, dammit, and then when the fight’s over asks her to take him back to Central. She blinks, just kinda standing there for a moment before it clicks–Central City. Barry. No wonder this dude’s not freaked out by suddenly appearing in the middle of a showdown.
Cue a flight back to her base, proper med check up that is constantly interrupted by Kara peppering Len with questions–about himself, does he have powers, how’d he end up *here*, does he know Barry? erm The Flash, they’re gonna order in for food and what does he like on pizza…
Meanwhile Len’s still a little shell shocked, although trying to hide it, and wondering how on EARTH (any Earth) he managed to find yet another superhero puppy?
Ok but Kara would also blindly trust Len cause he knows Barry and how he got to her Earth sounds very heroic as well. And Len just doesn’t know how to burst her bubble about his real nature.
So like everyone else can see Len is shady and Len is aware he’s shady but he’s playing nice cause Kara just expects him to and how can he say no to her?
(Plus, they’re his only hope to get back to his world and crew/team and maybe punch Barry for ever making him think playing hero was a good idea.)
Dude when Kara manages to return him to Barry and she still thinks that Len is some kind of wise and sexy immaculate hero and Len thinks that Barry is going to tell her everything about how he really is but by this time Barry has already heard about Len’s sacrifice from the Legends crew so he 1. nearly bursts into tears 2. hugs him and 3. bursts into an actual speech about how Len has been so much more self-less than he has and Kara is just like *nod nod* and now there are two psychotically happy puppy superheroes trying to make Len be a goddamn good person.
@horchatita and @lisellevelvet okay but imagine if Kara and Barry could communicate with the help of Cisco vibing and it’s like that meme Barry: Snart’s alive? Kara: oh yeah, he’s been a big help here. Len: *emtering the room* Stop telling everyone I’m a hero! Kara: He’s really humble about it too.
Hahahhaa, and Barry being all ‘I told you so!’ and pleased. Len facepalming and just…walking right back out of the room because he KNOWS the combined stubbornness of Barry and Kara is too much for him to defeat.
Lisa being invited to STAR for the whole ‘let’s get Snart back on the proper planet’ project because she is his anchor (not that he has speedforce, but it can’t hurt, right?) and Lisa and Cisco laughing their asses off as Len gets progressively more grumpy!cat about Barry and Kara.
I also headcanon that Len and Cat would get along like a house on fire and spend so much time snarking each other and everyone else.
But what happens when Len goes home? You know Kara winds up missing him (and Barry!) a lot. So now I’m imagining Barry going to visit Kara, except he drags Len along, because he knows Len misses her too. Len grumbles about it the whole way there until they see Kara again and he immediately goes all mother-hen, checking that she’s okay, asking who she battled this week. He also brought presents.
“It’s not my birthday.” Kara says suspiciously, looking over the bright pink box and assorted ribbons. The whole thing is lined with tinfoil, so she can’t use her x-ray vision. She holds the box up to her ear and tentatively shakes it.
“So you don’t want it?” Len says, mock-offended, and leans over to snatch the box from her hands.
“Hey! No! Give it here!” Kara says, lunging forward and managing to grab the box back. She immediately starts tugging at the ribbons. “...Awww, Len, this is so thoughtful!”
“You never get me presents,” Barry says mournfully.
Coldflash prompt? 'He called me Leo. Something is *wrong*.'
It’s not often that Mick is woken up in the middle of the night. He rolls over and looks at the clock. Alright, technically it’s five in the morning. Still too early.
The banging on the door downstairs doesn’t stop. Mick curses, loudly, and it’s with a great deal of groaning and grumbling that he hauls himself out of bed. He rubs one hand roughly across his eyes and hangs on to the half-burnt wooden headboard with the other before he straightens up and grabs his gun. Then he stomps down the stairs, fully intending to burn whatever fucker was dumb enough to wake him up.
That plans shrivels to ashes the moment he opens the door and sees Len standing there, curled in on himself, eyes and cheeks wet with tears. Mick blinks and lowers the gun. Len is far enough out of it that he doesn’t even notice.
“Hey,” Mick says roughly. “Uh….come in?”
Len doesn’t move, doesn’t shove his way forward and expect Mick to get out of the way. Now feeling truly unsettled, Mick moves out of the doorway and gestures towards the living room. Len nods shakily and steps inside, feet faltering, barely making it to the couch before he collapses.
Mick closes the door firmly and makes sure the deadbolt’s locked before he walks over, forgoing sitting down to kneel in front of Len and look at him. “Len?”
“It’s Barry,” Len says quietly, after a long moment of silence. His voice sounds strange. Mick feels his hackles rise.
“That fucker- what the hell’d he do? I’ll burn his goddamn-”
“No!” Len says, reaching out and grabbing Mick’s wrist to stop him from standing and storming off. “Not like that.”
“Well, then what’d he do?” Mick asks impatiently.
Len recoils, letting go of Mick’s wrist to bring his hands together, twining and twisting his fingers, a routine of exercises he does when he’s bored. Right now it just looks like fidgeting, and Len just looks like he’s scared.
Mick frowns and looks back up at Len, taking in the dark under-eye circles, the fact that he’s only wearing a long-sleeved shirt and no jacket even though it’s practically winter. He’d knocked on the door, too. Not picked the lock, or used the key Mick gave him, but hammered on the wood until his hand was red.
“It’s Barry,” Len says again, quieter, and this time Mick truly recognizes the terror in his voice for what it is. “He….he called me Leo.” He looks up, face ashen, eyes wide. “Something is wrong.”
Okay, but, imagine Hal showing up at Jitters where Barry and the gang are having coffee and just goes like "miss me?" Barry appears to be in shock until he clocks him right in the jaw. "I thought you were dead!!" Then proceeds to make out with him.
I think what makes this ask great is that it heavily implies Barry is the only person who knows Hal or knew that he was dead. So right now I’m just imagining Barry passionately making out with this absolutely gorgeous stranger, like 6′2″ of pure muscle, chiseled jaw, and perfect hair, and everyone else is just……sitting there. Staring. Holding coffee cups and staring.
It’s only when they finally break apart like five minutes later that Caitlin timidly asks “Barry, who is this?”
“What? Oh!” Barry says, raising a hand to try and brush his hair back into some semblance of order after Hal had run his fingers through it. His lips are spit-slick and shiny, and he’s blushing bright crimson. “Guys, this is Hal. He’s my….”
“Boyfriend,” Hal supplies confidently, wrapping an arm around Barry’s waist and leaning down to kiss the side of his neck.
Barry makes a face and elbows him- lightly- in the side. “You literally just showed up after being gone for three years. Let’s give it some time before you say stuff like that.”
Hal frowns. “Wait, so you make out with people who aren’t your boyfriend like that now?” Barry looks down at the floor and then away. “Barry!”
“Knew it,” Cisco mutters under his breath. When Caitlin looks at him curiously, he just waves a hand. “Tell you later.”
“Anyway!” Barry says brightly. “Guys, this is Hal. We used to date for years in college and then we sort of reconnected in Central. Hal, this is Cisco, Caitlin, Iris, and Eddie.”
“Hello,” Iris says coolly, looking at Hal suspiciously. At her side, Eddie gives Hal and bright smile and a cheerful wave, obviously not picking up on the tension. Hal grins back. “Barry, what do you mean you dated in college? You told me you didn’t date anyone in college.”
Barry gulps nervously and physically shrinks backwards, letting Hal cradle him like he’s made of glass, previous and fragile. “Well, about that…”
Hal just tilts his head back and laughs.
In the end, Hal totally becomes a part of the STAR Labs team and takes great pleasure in dramatically revealing his superhero alter-ego. Cisco takes great pleasure in ribbing him about his sub-par suit design and coming up with nicknames for Hal’s villains before he can. Hal brings back nerd stuff and alien technology for Cisco to freak and geek over.
Caitlin finds Hal’s altered physiology fascinating and puts him though a mandatory physical every times he comes back from being off-planet. Sometimes he’ll bring her bone scanners, or things resembling tricorders, or other medical technology that she might be able to use on Barry.
Iris obviously gets the first interview with Coast City’s newest superhero. Eddie thinks Hal’s alright. Joe hates the Green Lantern and the unnecessary damage caused by his fights, a sentiment echoed by the CCPD (Coast City Police Department, that is. Although Central won’t be far behind if he destroys one more statue.).

I also cried a lot while writing it, @joe-neal
But I have returned! And here we are now with the last cliffhanger, I promise, before one, maybe two more chapters ends this fic for good. It will all be up before the shows return, rest assured.
And just remember, despite how things close in this chapter…I promised you a happy ending and I will deliver.
042: “My parents are coming over in 10 minutes so please put some clothes on”
“Which combination of the freakishly large number of people who fulfill parental roles are you talking about?”
Len’s lounging in Barry’s bed, sheet draped over his otherwise naked body in a way that a Renaissance Sculptor would cry to see. Barry pauses in his Flash-speed cleaning up to appreciate the view glare at Len.
“It’s Joe. He will almost certainly shoot you if he’s confronted with such a blatant reminder that you’re -”
“That I’m what, Scarlet? Deflowering his son?”
Barry throws a pillow at him. It belonged on the bed anyway, that was progress in the right direction.
“Just put some clothes on, please.”
Len sighs the sigh of the long-suffering, and rolls himself out of bed in a way that flaunts every well-sculpted muscle in his back. Barry swallows hard, and has to forcibly remind himself that he doesn’t have time to topple his boyfriend back into the mess they’ve made of the sheets.
“Didn’t you say ten minutes, Scarlet?” muses Len, a wry and knowing grin on his face. Barry swears and takes off again to finish cleaning up.
(Len doesn’t tell him about the hickeys. There’s three of them, and its enough for Joe to start pointedly clearing his throat)

Summary:
When Barry runs back in time to save his mother, he definitely does not expect to find out that in the new timeline, he’s Leonard Snart’s boyfriend.
@coldflashbigbang thank you for organizing this awesome event, I really enjoyed participating! :)
I enjoyed reading this story because this is not the type of storyline that’s common in fandom. It’s very unique and different.
The biggest difference is that Barry loses his powers- permanently. That was odd to read, because I’m so used to reading fic where he either has them or gets them back eventually. Having him accept a life without them took some time to process. I kept expecting him to hate that loss and try to reverse it.
The slow integration of Barry’s memories into the new timeline was really well done, and the explanation makes perfect sense. I also like how characters were significantly different, in some cases entirely new people, and the way Barry had to learn that. He wasn’t just thrown into this universe where everything was the exact same but picture-perfect as well.
NERD!LEN IS EVERYTHING.
Overall this is a fantastic fic. Nora was especially lovely. Please read it!
Barry doesn't mind getting the chance to start over.

Barry couldn’t remember the last time he’d done anything besides run, zipping through crumbling buildings, saving innocent bystanders from the riots the arrival of the red sky had caused. Superman and the rest of the Justice League were busy fighting the Anti-Monitor, and Barry knew that he was better suited to protecting the people of his city instead of trying to get in the way of a superpowered slugfest. He’d leave the ridiculously overpowered villains to his ridiculously overpowered teammates.
Comment and kudos Give Me the Life I Lack by Moriavis on AO3.
It was only Barry’s super speed that prevented the coffees in his hand from hitting the floor when he got back to their table at Jitters, where Cisco and Caitlin were waiting for him with Iris, and saw the last person he ever expected to see standing there.
