would you ever, just let it die
Everything dies eventually, anon. But I don’t think I’ll be trying to hasten any deaths here
my analysis/interpretation of @mirrorsforprinces new and previous untitled songs. i just wrote down whatever came to my mind so it’s quite unorganised. sorry about my scruffy handwriting.
thanks to @phidica for the transcriptions of the lyrics.
Apologies for the extended silence. I came to a decision quite some time ago but have procrastinated posting about it
I’d like to apologise to David for my actions. He made himself quite clear that he didn’t like what I was doing and I rudely described how I would continue. I have elected to take the hint and stop. I will leave the current posts of this blog as they are, but the nature of any potential future posts is uncertain. I only just noticed that asks and submissions were disabled (sorry if you had tried using those!) and have enabled them now. I will continue to ask that MfP-related content be directed here rather than to @sgaparchivalinitiative
Finally, thank you to everyone who offered their suggestions and opinions on these events. Collectively they helped me to critically re-evaluate my own thoughts and behaviours, and I appreciate that
Well, that didn’t last long. This blog has also been blocked by @mirrorsforprinces, and reblogging the posts here is no longer possible. I don’t understand why this is the case, and though I have attempted to contact David via my personal blog, I don’t really anticipate receiving an explanation
Thus, we are at a crossroads. I believe there are two options for how to proceed, and I would like your input on what the archive should do now
Option A: Stop
Accept that David doesn’t like the idea of his posts being collected in one location, explicitly for that purpose. Stop trying to record them. Once they are deleted, there will be no easy communal way to find them again
Option B: Keep going
Other fans are still able to reblog MfP posts to their personal blogs. Instead of trying to reblog posts here, just create summary posts of links to all the reblogs of each MfP post. Essentially, provide a central collection of mirrors for every post
Personally, I don’t agree with David’s actions (especially coming without explanation as they are) and thus I prefer option B. I believe that the service provided by this blog is an important one for his fans, especially those who are interested in his posts but might not happen to see them in the time that they exist before deletion. That said, taking the more rebellious route could appear antagonistic and I don’t want to rush into taking action that the followers of this blog don’t support. Additionally, it’s possible that David could just start blocking every blog which follows @mirrorsforprinces and then no one would be able to reblog them. Unlikely, but it could be done
Please leave a reply on this post and let me know what you think. I’ll consider any comments and make a decision in a few days
Within a single thing, a single shawl / Wrapped tightly round us, since we are poor, a warmth, … Here, now, we forget each other and ourselves. / We feel the obscurity of an order, a whole, … We make a dwelling in the evening air, / In which being there together is enough.

The simplest expression that I can find for the thesis I have tried to maintain is this: All meaningful knowledge is for the sake of action, and all meaningful action for the sake of friendship.

A CONSTELLATION / cold with neglect and disuse / not so much / that it fails to number / on some vacant and higher surface / the successive impact / starrily / of a full reckoning in the making / keeping watch / wondering / rolling on / shining and pondering / before finally halting / at some last point that sanctifies it

The power of colour is nothing compared to the power of the line; the line that does not exist in nature but which can expose and demonstrate the tangible more sharply than can sight itself when confronted with the actual object. To draw is to know by hand—to have the proof that [is] demanded … that the world is solid, material.

… the next big thing could be, if we can accept the challenge, to think that there are only small things, small thoughts, everywhere and within every individual …

Certain mystes aver that the real world has been constructed by the human mind, since our ways are governed by the artificial categories into which we place essentially undifferentiated things, things weaker than our words for them. … We believe that we invent symbols. The truth is that they invent us; we are their creatures, shaped by their hard, defining edges.
