Happy almost three weeks, Lower Barby!

I have an inkling that we’ll be getting some new faces around here soon, since I’ve been spreading the word farther and farther from my own dashboard. Additionally, since I’ve been gone for ages prior to mgcl, I may not know some of the fabulous people around tumblr you oldies have acquainted yourself with. If there’s anyone in particular that you enjoy writing with (or want to write with for the first time!), shoot them a message about mgcl or let me know their username! The more the merrier! We’re especially lacking in Purist and Purist sympathizers right now. 

I went ahead and added the Discord chat link to the right side module, in case you hadn’t noticed. So far only Kate and I have used it (and only for ooc purposes.) Stop on in if you feel like it. If you guys are seriously interested in me hosting location specific roleplaying threads there too, I can add them. Just let me know. The cool thing about Discord is that you can add multiple chats under mgcl’s url. 

What I haaaaaaave done is updated the setting a bit. You can also check that out on the right hand module link. Our little cottage town is growing nicely, and it makes me so happy!

In terms of current events, the article announcing Earnest Fox’s execution is still fresh off the press. Plot accordingly, lovelies. 

On a slightly less exciting note, classes start on Tuesday for me. This shouldn’t affect my activity levels too severely, especially given the loosey-goosey expectation of mgcl. But-

Mostly this post is about the fact that it’s below freezing in Texas today, and the heater in my piece-of-shit apartment doesn’t work. I’m currently wearing three pairs of socks. My fingers hurt when I type. I’m going to freeze in my sleep tonight. Twas nice knowing you. 

The other point of this post is that Lauren posted a diddly-do about a messenger system called Discord on her personal blog. It’s sort of like Chatzy, but I think we can host multiple different chats under the same tab. I’m not too sure about the details, but I’ve been researching it for a little bit in my freezing pain. I’m gonna leave the link here, and if we all like it, we can figure out what we want to use it for. A couple of initial ideas would be a universal ooc messenger, a place to roleplay at different locations (e.g. a thread for Madam McCutcheon’s vs. The Fletcher Farm or what have you), or a universal chat like the old-school Chatzys every once in a while. 

The third point of this post is that I’m cooped up at home, about to open a bottle of wine, and ready to hit the roleplaying slopes! Swoosh.

Minister Executed, Crane Named Grandpure

Minster of Magic Earnest Fox was executed today on command of Purist Party leader and former Department of Mysteries Chairman Maxus Crane. The execution was broadcast live on the Wizard’s Wireless Network, now under the control of the Purist Party. Thousands of witches and wizards tuned in across the country to hear Fox deliver his last speech before party general Serpintine Sliske cast the killing curse.

“Do not fear violence,” Fox said moments before his death. “Fear injustice.”

Crane founded his political platform on social equality. In 1924, he pioneered the Squib Inclusion Act, which implemented a number of measures to ensure equal treatment of those born to magical parents who inherited no powers themselves. One of these measures nullified the right to deny Squibs housing in wizarding neighborhoods.

Since’s Fox’s inauguration, Gringotts has struggled to maintain currency exchange rates. Crane and the Purist Party blame Fox’s overzealous legislation.

Upon Fox’s execution, Crane denounced the title of Minister, instead promoting himself to Grandpure. He is currently the most politically powerful wizard in Great Britain.

Although on the fringe of the wizarding world for the last decade, the Purist Party is made official today by Crane’s coupe. His rise to power foretells an uncertain future for anyone unable to prove their pureblood lineage. For years, Purists have championed the idea of an official wand ceremony in which all persons wanting to practice magic must present the wands of both parents (implying a Pureblood favoring or Pureblood only wizarding world.) After Fox’s execution, Crane stated that mandatory wand ceremonies will be one of the first measures he casts into law. He has not yet specified the repercussions of failing the ceremony, but muggleborns and halfbloods throughout England worry for their safety under his regime.

Earnest Fox is survived by his wife, sister, three children, and grandson–all of whom are currently missing.

Hiatus

So, as you know, this has been inactive for quite awhile.  I wanted to leave it technically open as long as there was nothing else going on, but now that @mgclmayhem has arrived to bring us back from the brink and @waynnews is on the way, I think it’s time to say our goodbyes to Lyndhurst, at least for now.  Of course, if you suddenly get inspiration, feel free to at any time pop on and comment, or what-have-you, to your hearts content.  

In any case, maybe we’ll revisit this sometime in the future, but for now, it’s time to move on to other things.  Love you guys and hope to rp w you all again v soon!!!!  <333
