These are little passages for each character to get to know them.
Izuku Midoriya- born quirkless, Izuku knew he was behind the other students by a lot. Coming in late put him at a disadvantage. They were already in year two and had the chance to get to know their quirks since it manifested. Meanwhile, he barely even understood what his quirk did or what was waiting for him in the hero course. He was so doomed. He should've accepted the support course's offer to join when it was given to him a year back. But of course, he had to think about Kacchan’s stupid, smug grin and declined. He thought back to his time on the beach. To the advice All- Yagi-sama gave him. "Just wing it." The blonde had said, throwing him a thumbs-up. "That's what I did, at least." Midoriya's eyes narrowed, and he suddenly felt like gnawing at his notebook. Just wing it?
He knew this was a bad idea from the start, and knew he should've never listened to a man who had told him to eat a strand of his hair unprovoked on a beach he cleaned for him. Talk about filthy. He hadn’t had much time to process anything. Coming directly to the school after their meeting. He nervously grabbed the cuffs of his sleeve, looking up at the building. After taking a deep breath, he thought: This was it. Behind those doors were all the dreams and aspirations he had been chasing since he was a toddler. He wasn't going to back down now. He took his next step.
Katsuki Bakugo - Childhood best friends with Midoriya (nobody believes him lol), to bully to what is even happening. Katsuki knows he's not crazy. That - tech junkie - did not have a quirk. He would know, as absurd as that sounds. Their parents were close, after all. His mother would've yapped about it sooner or later - the news coming from Inko as it always does. He tried to ground himself. Was he being looked down upon? Did he think he couldn't handle it? He kept drumming his hands on his desk. It was driving Katsuki crazy. He didn't understand him, as frustrating as it was to admit. Izuku was always in his own bubble, always smiling, even after all the relentless slander and bullying he was subjected to. It infuriated him. Every time he looked at him.
He remembered his clothing drenched in the lake's cold water and the scratch on his arm stinging like a bitch. The kids above him giggled, praising his bravery, not noticing the slight wobble of his lips as he beamed back at them. Everyone around him thought he was so cool. Random kids would come up to him and ask him questions like he was some sort of celebrity. They followed his lead and never tried to interfere. Every but:
A hand reached out to him. "Are you okay, Kacchan?"
Shoto Todoroki - Son of Number Two Hero (for 2 decades in the running). Shoto Todoroki has always had his entire future planned out for him. One could argue it was before those marriage documents were signed. Despite whatever the mainstream media theorizes, Shoto is not his father. He was nothing like that man. It was ironic. The man with the scorching quirk held a heart colder than the ice that ran through his mother's veins. It's like the universe hated him. “You will surpass him,” Endeavor had drilled into him since that incident. The proclamations that used to belong to someone else were now his. That once spark of ambition now ravaged his entire house as an inferno. Before long, his family fell apart, leaving him with that same conflagration plaguing his mind. He refused to let him carve his path. To let these damn dreams come true.
It wouldn't be fair. To the grave he visits even when the rain is advising against it, or to the woman who sits next to her windowsill peering at the scenery, wishing for a future away from that fire his father started. Shoto wants to be a good person. A better man than his father. Like the man his mother used to play for him on their TV. The one who smiles and tells everyone not to fear because he's here. More than anything, he wants to be a hero.
Ochaco Uraraka- The first girl Izuku talked to (not really)!! -- Her parents were always exhausted. Ochaco watched her father almost plunge tiredly into his bowl of ramen. She couldn't tell if his eyes were more droopy than the sauce threatening to spill out of his mouth. She knew things at their business weren't going well. Noticed it in their worn-out shoes and gloves that have seen better days. She tried to pitch in by giving them some of her pocket change, but they only knowingly looked at each other and patted her on the head.
“We’re fine, sweetheart, really.” Her mother had said. They didn't want her to worry. Her parents were the hardest workers she knew. They didn't mind indulging her wants, didn't try and burden her with their financial struggles, even though it was obvious in little Ochaco’s eyes every time they came home late. She wanted to help. And for years, she struggled to find out how she could. Until recently. She looked at the envelope. The letters U and A were embroidered onto the sticker with beautiful golds, reds, and blues.
Tenya Iida- From the prestigious Iida family line, Tenya always knew he wanted to follow his mother and brother's footsteps from a very young age. His family raised him with the values and teachings of a hero. And naturally, when he grows up, he'd be the one who'd happily fill in their shoes. The adrenaline of seeing Tensei capture a bad guy on their home television, or seeing his mother's feats get praised by random news anchors, always warmed his heart and filled him with a sense of pride. His family's legacy has been around for generations, assisting as many people as they could. They maintained that system. It had been in their blood. That's why he couldn't believe it. When the call came.
"It's your brother." Aizawa-sama had repeated to him, a grim face taking over. Tenya examined his teacher's body language for anything positive. There wasn't much to note with the blocky bandages in the way. He continued, his voice being noticeably more hoarse than before. "He's in the hospital, your mother she-" Before the older man could say anymore, he was halfway through the door, ears ringing.
Fumikage Tokoyami - Most individuals are afraid of the dark and the uncertainty it brings. Fumikage wasn't most people. He never understood the idea at all. After all, that same darkness had more of a soul than most people he's met. The notion of shunning it away with whatever harsh lights they had next to them, then closing their eyes to greet that same darkness that soothed them to sleep. It felt senseless and a bit unjust. His grandparents had told him that his ability wasn't something the average person could comprehend. And looking back, he agrees. The neighborhood kids looked at him wearily anytime he walked home, and even the adults tended to lower their heads or ignore his presence altogether. The sole thing he could turn to was the shadows, which would embrace him with open arms.
He attempted to inform people. Tried to let them see him. His quirk counselor would only shake his head, advising him to not be 'tempted' by that darkness. RDD, it was named. Reject it. Deflect it. Don't let it take over. It is nothing more than a juvenile idiosyncrasy. He'll grow out of it. His bedroom was unlit - an accommodation the dark needed to thrive in. He held his hand that night. The kids at school left a letter along with a bag of sesame seeds in his cubby. Pigeons belong in the streets. "Want me to beat them up? Fumikage?" He shook his head in response. Later, his counselor gave him a number. "If you feel like you're going to turn to the shadows, use this." He looked at the note. Guitar lessons?
Momo Yaoyorozu - The only child of CEO Kenzo Yaoyorozu, Momo was born into immense wealth, more than many students could ever fathom witnessing in their lives. Luxury cars, enormous rooms, it all came easily to her with her family's business. Her father took his job seriously. Their family company rivals only Rikiya Yotsubashi's Detnerat; it's no wonder his offices are consistently moving. He carefully made sure to craft his tech with her family's quirk in mind. The ingenuity that runs through his veins was hers as well. Thus putting her at an advantage in the arts. She's been a creative for as long as she can remember.
One could argue about the semantics of which parent she ended up taking after, seeing as her dad operates a tech support company and her mother is a famous singer who has reached international success. When she came to UA, she didn't have many expectations. School was always rather easy for her, and the courses weren't something to take home. Something was disappointing about it. The daughter of the Yaoyorozu's was playing make-believe. She had thought that when Nezu offered her a spot in his ranks, she was going to be challenged. Given a different standpoint of the Pro's she's seen collaborating with her parents. So when she saw Tokoyami retrieve his shadow back into the twilight, her walls came down. A mistake she carelessly made. "Yaoyorozu, you're out of bounds!" For the first time in her life, the trust she had in herself was starting to crack.
anyways !! I tried not to give too much away with these short little entries!! I do want to actually write things lol. I might do this with the supporting characters next. Feel free to ask questions. I haven't written shit in such a long time, so sorry if it sounds silly.
