This Pink Lagoon is Real, and You Can Visit It in Mexico
To see more from the pink lagoons, check out Las Coloradas on Instagram. To discover more stories from the Spanish-speaking community, follow @instagrames.
In Las Coloradas, Mexico, pink lagoons exist. The small fishing village on the Yucatán Peninsula is home to tinted waters — thanks to unusually high quantities of tiny brine shrimp. “I couldn’t believe what I saw,” says Marisa Hampe (@marisahampe), a German traveler who discovered the spot through Instagram during a trip to Mexico. “I had never heard of a pink sea; it’s a unique and magical place, like a dream.”
