Hello, writeblr! You can call me Mic (he/him, mid-20s). I'm a writer of both original fiction and fanfiction, and an on-and-off writeblr regular since 2019. Back to ease myself into writing again after a 2-year-long hiatus. Because of the adult themes in my work, I would prefer to keep this blog 18+. Interactions will probably be sparse while I reacquaint myself with the community. Temporarily closed to tag/ask games!
My writing—
★ I write romance, paranormal, sci-fi and horror, in various combinations. Most of my protagonists are trans men.
★ NSFW excerpts will be tagged #nsft and content labeled as mature. Also, if I'm currently working on fanfic, the fandom and pairing will be mentioned in my WIP list below the cut. Blacklist and block as needed.
★ Favorite tropes: redemption arcs, unreliable narrators, religious (specifically biblical) symbolism and imagery, body horror, complex villains, repressed characters, enemies-to-lovers and enemies-who-are-lovers, hope against hope, exploring what it means to be (in)human
★ All my writing can be found under the tag "#my writing". For individual WIP tags, check below the cut!
My WIPs—
GRAVITATION
— type: original novel (est. final wc ~90k)
— genre: paranormal(/sci-fi) polyamorous romance
— rating: adult fiction
— status: active (third draft)
— tag: #wip: gravitation
— summary:
Henry does not expect to see his ex, Damien, ever again, considering it's been three years and some change since he was broken up with –through text– and promptly cut off from Damien's life.
He definitely doesn't expect to see him again at Damien's own funeral.
But Damien had never been good at commitment — to people or to plans. And as it turns out, in his hurry to erase Henry from his life, he forgot to erase him from his papers. Specifically, the one declaring Henry his emergency contact, responsible for handling Damien's affairs in the case of his death.
That's how Henry ends up in San Francisco with his husband Vin, an ex to bury, and a whole lot of ghosts from his past to confront.
Both figuratively and literally.
Wouldn't you rather be a widow than a divorcée?
— type: fanfiction oneshot (est. final wc ~15-20k)
— fandom & pairing: JJBA Part 1; Phantom Blood. Jonathan/Dio.
— rating: M, verging on E
— tropes: marriage of (one-sided) convenience, mutual pining, internalized homophobia/transphobia, religious symbolism, unreliable narrator
— status: active (first drafting)
— tag: #wip: wouldn't you rather
— summary:
The worst time to realize you're not in love with someone is as you're telling them “I do” at the altar.
The worst time to realize you are in love with someone is immediately after you've broken your marriage to them off on your wedding night.
Well, they do say denial is a river in Egypt and Dio knows exactly where he wants to spend their honeymoon.
Aside from these two main projects, I'm bouncing around a few more stories (mostly fanfics, but not exclusively) in varied stages of progress. When and if I start working on them consistently enough to consider them "active" WIPs, they will be added to this post. In the meantime, I might still mention them or post excerpts and I'm happy to chat about any of my works, regardless of whether they're listed here. :)
Currently really into the webtoon Cinderella Boy and I don't know how to explain Chase and Buddy's love story reminds me SO MUCH of Henry and Vin's without sounding like this bc on a surface level they have nothing in common BUT TRUST ME–
a gentle “you don’t look well ..” trailing off into a “woah, hey, hey-“ as they lurch forward to steady, or perhaps catch, a most definitely sick character.
there really is an effect where if you like your oc enough you will forget that their name is completely absurd until its too late and youve already introduced them proudly
