i find this song very intriguing and mysterious, but it also has a simplicity to it? it’s like the perfect way to introduce daylight but is also meaningful as a singular track.

After reading this article, I’ve been thinking about it’s placement in Lover, as the second to the last song, preceding Daylight. I feel all of the previous songs on the album are filled with detailed descriptions, setting the tone of each and every song, capturing what the person is feeling at the time. Then you come to the 17th song, It’s Nice To Have A Friend. It’s a series of snapshots, reminiscent of someone reflecting back on their journey with the person they love, their lover. Devoid of emotional details reinforces the thoughtful pondering of this journey. Also, the Asian undertones, I hear, tell me this is a song meant to depict a journey of personal and/or moral realization. Perfectly, leading to the last and final song, Daylight 💗
