the thing about tailgate is that when you think about it he's actually a little terrifying. and im not even talking about his outlier. like you have to remember that this guy is running off of literally 2 weeks of life experience and then whatever the heck the losers on the lost light are telling him about. yeah hes kinda naive but with that in mind everything he does is like 50x more impressive. dude told like 500 separate lies and managed to cover his tracks thoroughly enough to avoid getting caught for *months*. thoroughly enough to fool ultra magnus and we all know what he's like. autopedia didn't even exist in tailgate's time. he tricked rewind into teaching him how to defuse a bomb and only ALMOST killed a bunch of people. he was bored out of his skull the entire time magnus was teaching him the autobot code but he actually REMEMBERED it. like yeah he falls for getaway's whole shtick but he's literally the only person on board who has an excuse for that kind of thing. literally everyone else has like a million years life experience on him and look at the kind of dumbassery all of them get into. if tailgate hadn't fallen into a hole and blacked out for several million years the war would have been over in 5 minutes real and true. we're all lucky that tailgate's top priority is movie night

I think the Rodimus Star is indicative of how Rodimus sees the very best in each and everyone in his crew even if it's for something small or mundane-

And it shows who he is as a Person He wants everyone to be happy, he constantly goes out of his way to ensure their happiness and well being.

There's a part of him that always strives to be better, specifically for them, the Rodimus that keeps reaching for the stars.
