How did everyone feel about the first live show of the X Factor last night??
I have to say, I was VERY impressed. The production level of this makes Idol look like a run down karaoke bar. If this were any other show, I might feel like it was over produced, but I LOVED IT. This show is about transforming unknowns into super stars, and it really shows that with a great mentor, a little styling, and fancy lighting, these people look like pros. That host stresses me out though. I mean, come on. The local news was next. It's not like there was a reason to finish on time. Calm down, dude.
THE GROUPS. The groups were amazing. Paula brought her A-Game and I adore Lakoda Rayne. I even hated the Stereohogs before and I thought they were fantastic.
But as far as professionalism, the girls blew everyone away. I felt like Simon really knows how to turn a person into a pop star. He looked so WORRIED the whole time, though. I think he underestimated the other teams. Simone whatever her name is actually was kind of terrible. But she looked the part, she radiated star power. The dancers, the production, everything screamed "I am a STAR." I didn't love little baby girl but she's gonna make it. Drew was phenomenal, and I've always thought Tiah was the next Rhianna, but man she cannot stay on key. But she looked BA regardless of how it was the weirdest performance ever. Melanie is incredible. The fact that Simon chose a Whitney song means he believes a lot in her and thinks highly of her voice. She didn't quite reach the power notes but her tone is so lovely. I wasn't surprised about who he cut, but they were the most interesting girls, the others aren't "pop" stars and I really wanted another Katy or Rhianna or Britney.
I don't care about the old people. The burrito guy was awesome. Thank goodness she eliminated who she did.
The guys were okay. Marcus and Astro are definitely legit.
All in all, I adore this show! I don't know if I can ever watch any other singing show now!
Chuck Bass. I will still get it on with you.
Halloween Costume Idea: Pee Wee German. Thanks for continuing to give, SNL.
Man, I love me some Tough Love and Steve Ward. And I LOVE a good makeover show! But homeboy said something I TOTALLY disagreed with. He was basically hating on hair and hair extensions and he was all like, "Confidence shouldn't come from your hair." Or something like that. But seriously, women's shining glory is their hair! It's our wonderful, fantastic, beautiful part that makes us lovely ladies and dudes....well, not as pretty.
And anyone who has long, wonderful hair knows exactly what I'm talking about.
Whitney lives to see another week on my DVR! I know never to judge a show by it's pilot, but I hated that they chose to use a studio audience! But, it occurs to me that Whitney Cummings is a stand up comedian and probably can't survive if there's no one responding to her, so I wonder if the pilot didn't fall flat when they tried to tape it and they decided to revamp with an audience.
EITHER WAY...the second episode was hilarious. I don't think I've ever really seen a relationship comedy tackle the "second first date" and there were so many times I just laughed outloud. It was actually a great episode - so I'm hoping to see a lot more like this one in the future. Plus, I do kind of like their couple dynamic. It's cute.
"Four years ago, I was just a guy who had a crush on a girl, who had a boyfriend. And I had to do the hardest thing that I've ever had to do, which was just to... wait...And, a lot of people told me I was crazy to wait this long for a date with a girl I work with but I think, even then I knew that... I was waiting for my wife." -Jim Halpert
Oh, 2 Broke Girls. I don't know if you're going to make my coveted DVR Series Recording.
I have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. I LOL'd a few times and found the plot to be stale but interesting, So I gave it another shot this week and man, did it fall flat for me. There are actually still a lot of great one-liners in there, but the slapstick and cheeseball factor might outweigh anything good they stuck in there.
And what the heck is up with Mr Ed in the backyard?
I think it's Max. Her personality is terrible. Her acting is terrible. She doesn't move her face at all either, which bothers me, because even emotionless people have facial expressions. I just feel like she's not likeable in a "Oh, I'm hilarious sarcastic girl" way. She's just kind of annoying. And rude.
And good lord, can't someone loan blondie another outfit?
So, who watched PanAm last night? I'm not sure who's idea it was to base a show on a set that spends 95% of its time in the air, but I was intrigued (and my fantasy football team was losing) so I turned it on last night.
Basically, my review is: Everyone looks the same, so I had a little trouble keeping the storylines straight. I had no idea what was going on half of the time, but it's really pretty to look at. I feel like everyone is trying to get a Mad Men hit right now. That's fine, I love pretty vintage clothes.
They did manage to create ENOUGH intrigue that I may tune in again. After all, there's nothing on Sundays and I'm DYING to know what happened to Bridget.
Favorite tweet of the night: "Of COURSE the girl named Bridget almost gets left in Cuba."

Triple-X Factor of the Day: The Parents Television Council is up in arms over an X-Factor performance from the show’s Wednesday night premiere featuring a seemingly semi-nude man auditioning sans pants.
“Perhaps the ‘X’ in X Factor stands for the MPAA rating,” quipped PTC president Tim Winter. “If Godley performed his act in public, he would have been arrested. But if he performs it in front of a Fox camera, his act is beamed via the public airwaves into every home in the nation.”
The group filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission earlier today.
Aside from the show’s logo blocking the gentleman’s junk, the “singer” himself says he wasn’t truly naked. Rather, he was wearing a G-string. “G-strings are legal,” Geo Godley told TMZ. “The PTC have no complaint to make.”

Welp, that answers MY question. Did you guys think last night's episode SUCKED? I mean...Miami is full of a bunch of really terrible singers. A LOT. I'm only halfway through though, and I'm hoping my home state won't let me down :)
Let's talk about X Factor, You guys.
Mostly, this guy. Let's talk about this guy. He didn't *REALLY* get naked and swing his business around, right? That's indecent exposure. Didn't Courtney Love get in trouble and fined when she flashed her britney on stage? There are kids in the audience. There is NO WAY the producers just stood idly by and let this man play creepy stripper. No way. I suspect he was wearing something. Possibly an elephant thong or something, but he had to be. Seriously. And Paula was a *LITTLE* dramatic.
Otherwise, I like the setup. I like that they're looking not just for karaoke singers, they're going to coach them and try to turn them into stars. It has some Voice-like factors, some America's Got Talent type stuff, and of course the remnants of American Idol.
And I LOVE Nicole Scherzinger.
What did you guys think??
BIG BANG THEORY STARTS TONIGHT!!! Can you tell I am a LITTLE EXCITED??
Has Penny ruined her chances at jumping the shark and getting with Leonard? Are Bernadette and Howard REALLY gonna make it? Is Sheldon still...Sheldon? We will see.
Also on my plate tonight:
X Factor Millionaire Matchmaker The Office Project Runway Whitney Jersey Shore
I'm interested to see a Michael Scott-less Office...I just am not sure I can handle it! And Whitney Cummings is hilarioius. So I'm expecting her show will be as well!!
Can't wait for the premiere of X Factor tonight!! I'm a BIG Simon Cowell fan. I'm looking forward to seeing how the show works.
