Link let out a sharp cry of pain, instinctively reaching to touch his wound. Midna rushed to grab the bottle of Golden Chu Jelly, hastily opening it and bringing it to the hero’s lips, then helping him swallow its contents. While the strange elixir wouldn’t heal him fully, it would help slow the bleeding and dull the pain.
“We need to get you somewhere I can look at your injuries,” she said softly. “Can you walk?”
She offered her hand, which he took gladly. He groaned as he pushed himself up, feeling unstable on his feet. He put an arm around Midna for extra support. She responded by doing the same. When he started pushing himself too much, she had to tell him to take it easy. His legs felt like they would give out at any moment.
Within a few minutes, they reached their destination. It was a small, sparsely decorated room with only a table, a few chairs, and a bed. Link sat on the edge and Midna helped him take off his now crimson tunic and shirt.
Her eyes widened at the sight, but she didn’t say anything. Instead, she quickly left the room, telling Link she’d be back in a minute. True to her word, she was back quickly. In one hand was a bowl-shaped object, and in the other was a bottle of clear liquid.
She swiftly opened the bottle and poured the liquid into the bowl. She took out a cloth and carefully cleaned the wound. Next, she wrapped a cloth bandage around the wound. Unfortunately, this was nowhere near the first time she had to do this. They were just lucky he had the potion, otherwise things would have been much worse.
They both realized that the tunic most likely couldn’t be saved, and Link would have to find a new outfit to wear. They were both just glad he would be all right.
Link’s gaze fell to Midna’s lips.
The tension in the air was thick as Link reached over and stroked her hair out of her face.
“You are so beautiful,” he whispered, unable to help himself. He stared into her eyes for another moment, then leaned forward and kissed her. It took her a moment to respond, but she soon did.
When they pulled away, Link’s face was flushed, as was Midna’s to his surprise. He grinned at her surprised reaction. She smiled, then kissed the top of his head. She picked up the things she brought in, as well as the clothes on the floor.
“I’ll be back soon,” she said.
Link watched her leave the room with only adoration and warmth in his eyes. He was in love with the Twilight Queen.
