the leak in the roof and a bucket by the counter

and i love it too

lit candles and midnight dancing

so take us back

our tentative camaraderie and sacred intimacy

why I’m sometimes so distant 

I told you that it’s better this way

so when I leave, 

it will hurt less

because you don't need any more scars

A Losing Game

you want to play hide and seek with my love

cold shoulder in the street

kissing me in dark corners

safe behind closed doors

so if I can't have you

the way I want to

and you don't want me

the way I am

then let me haunt you

if you want me then let me in

carve open your chest

and let me crawl inside

let me make a home

in the cavity of your heart

and I could spend

a lifetime in your eyes

dazed by your smile

lost in your gaze

winter solstice

I met you in spring

you had your fingers wrapped around my heart

My summer nights belonged to you

we sat on the beach and watched the waves crash into the shore

our wine glasses

always full

our hearts too

or so i thought

autumn came and we fell apart 

but ill hold onto these Polaroids of us through winter

and wait for summer to come again

We've all been blinded once by the promise 

of happily ever afters and forevers

I used to look for love with rose tinted glasses,

in places where only idealism and infatuation existed,

and failed to see that it was all around me

I wish our hands hadn’t brushed against each other's

because now you’re running through my mind, like an endless stream of sand grains in a hourglass

and i can feel you in every inch of my skin, the very essence of you sits in my pores

i don’t even know where I start or you end

eyes the chaos of edom

intention lost in wedding

snakeskin skirt she’s wearing. 

Germanic prince her escort

his hair is green and severed short

carries her moods around all the courts

singing pretty when she says nought. 

Her braids medusa

they snake around me, I want to be exclusive

could be an illusion

her name something my tongue misuses.

Face tattooed on my thigh

the tears splash on her when I cry

leak as faucets run dry

melted clouds drip from the sky…
