A Princess's Duty

“Please. If I may ask but one thing of you, let it be this: when your father kills me, send my bones home.”

The kingdoms of Liori and Rhovar have been at war. They have finally written out a peace treaty that Liori desperately needs, but with a steep cost. Princess Nereya, youngest of the Liori royal family, will have to wed Prince Kieran, the new heir to the throne of Rhovar. Nereya is terrified, as Rhovar is known for its cruel king and sadistic court. More than that, she has reason to fear personally: she killed the first prince of Rhovar, the elder brother of her husband-to-be, when he tried to kidnap her as a hostage to use against her kingdom. 

Prince Kieran is also dreading the upcoming wedding. As the younger prince, the spare rather than the heir, he avoided much of his father’s attention while growing up. Consequently, he was able to learn more about the surrounding kingdoms and develop more of an open mind—and less of his father’s cruelty. He is not looking forward to marrying whatever terrified girl Liori sends to take its princess’s place. There is certainly no way they would send their actual beloved princess into the den of vipers his father calls a court, after all. He will be bound in marriage to some poor maid or servant or girl picked randomly from the countryside who was forced into this situation, and will do his best to protect her from his father. A father that is now far too interested in how his only remaining son behaves…

Whumpees that aren't the typical depiction of bravery

Because you don't have to be stone faced to be strong

Whumpees who are scared of pain and want to avoid it so badly, but they shoulder the responsibility anyway because they understand what's more important.

Whumpees who tremble and cry as they brace themselves.

Whumpees who instinctively react in an attempt to block incoming pain, but when threatened by Whumper again they hesitantly lower their guard to allow them in.

Whumpees that faint easily, fighting against the panic that their body's natural reaction takes autonomy away from them, but facing Whumper anyway, knowing they'll pass out every time.

Whumpees taking deep, shaking breaths and attempting to not hyperventilate in panic.

Whumpees squeezing their eyes shut tightly in preparation.

Whumpees who don't hide their tears or screams because it's too much to just endure and they can't put any more effort into keeping up an appearance of stoicism

Thinking about a hero with the power to make their wishes happen who also secluded themselves from society because their power is so dangerous. But one villain finally tracks them down and ends up provoking them too far, and Hero ends up saying,

“Go to Hell, Villain.”

And, quite accidentally, sends Villain through a portal to a land of endless fire and brimstone.

And like, what if Hero only got one wish a day. And they had to wait a whole 24 hours before they could wish Villain back.

When they finally do, Villain just drops in front of them, a sobbing shell of their former self, haunted and burned.

And then this self-loathing, recluse of a Hero ends up taking care of them, maybe healing a little of themselves along the way.

Could 100% work with the roles reversed, too, with Supervillain having big feelings about sending Hero to Hell.

Every. Single. Time I have to open his cell door he forgets he's chained to the wall and immediately lunges at me like a wild dog. I can tell he's going for my neck. And every single time I easily avoid him by taking a single step backwards, and the only person he ends up choking is himself. How many more times until he learns resisting me is only going to end up hurting him, do you think?

The metal spiked collar!

With a metal band to accompany the pointed studs we all know and love, these collars make the perfect accessory for your living weapon, feisty pet, or general nuisance of a whumpee!

Consider, if you will:

Sleep deprivation caused by the inability to get comfortable. Laying down properly pushes the spikes into their shoulder and collarbone, but they're unable to fall asleep sitting up.

The band absorbs the wearer's heat but low temperatures outside can easily cancel that out... and the whumpee thus unable to get warm due to the freezing metal around their neck.

Being unable to properly embrace rescuers or fellow whumpees without the fear of hurting them.

Being starved of touch from anyone but the keyholder.

Hickeys around the collar, telling that story to everyone else.

Bruising around the neck due to the sheer weight of the collar and how roughly it's pulled on.

Potential friendly faces being put off by its intimidating appearance. The whumpee only ever being given timid glances by others.

Being used as their whumper's "scary dog" to keep more dangerous figures from challenging them. Obedience is forced by the knowledge that those whumpers would scoop them up in a heartbeat and do far worse to them, were whumper not there to signify ownership.

Being the subject of dehumanizing comments that are, of course, blamed on that collar.

Royal whumpee/conqueror whumper prompts!

Whumper referring to whumpee by their title sarcastically. Bonus points if they add a "my" in front of it or any other diminutive.

Whumper sitting on the throne that used to be whumpee's, with whumpee being forced to be by their feet. Non-con potential obvious.

Whumpee that's captured before the rest of his family/house and is used as a living weapon to bring their own kingdom down.

When this is revealed, whumper makes an extremely public display of showing just how loyal to them whumpee is.

Forced marriage to whumper to legitimize whumper's reign.

Public humiliation in front of whumpee's former people in general. Maybe whumpee is dragged naked through the streets.

Whumpee being kept in the very same prisons that they used to keep their own enemies in. Was whumpee a good ruler? A cruel one?

Betrayal coming from whumpee's personal guard! Maybe whumper has pulled off a coup.

Whumper "sharing" whumpee, with whumper's most loyal people. See above for additional heartbreak.

Whumpee forced to watch as their own people are mistreated or other members of their family executed.

Whumpee that learns that although they'd thought they were a very good ruler, their people actually hate them and would side with whumper.

some of the whump prompts that are very dear to me:

character being so traumatized by the assault they went through that they’re not able to sleep properly and always jerking awake at every little noise, because they’re paranoid and scared that the people who hurt them will barge through the door and hurt them again

character being so exhausted, weak and wounded that they sleep like the dead, still and limp and are practically in a coma-like state. they are completely unaware of the presence of any other people in the room (maybe these people are doctors and nurses who are helping them, maybe they’re the people who have hurt them, or maybe they’re their loved ones making sure they’re safe and okay, but regardless they are so deep asleep that do not stir one bit)

Having to pry a character's grasping hands off whatever coat-tail, wrist, shirt front, leg, hem they've caught hold of, not with any malice or intentional cruelty, but because the character they're clinging to must step away in order to reach or do something or the grasping character needs to be moved or tended to- gently coaxing their grip loose, peeling their hand away finger by finger, placing something else in their hold in replacement

Consider a whumpee right on the edge of consciousness, not even awake enough to recognize the team around them.

They're safe now, being cared for by people they would trust, but the most thought they can gather right now is that the sky seems so far above them. They blink when addressed, knowing somewhere that they should probably respond, but unable to make the connection between their brain and their mouth. The only thing they can do is watch as the sky shifts to a ceiling that jolts and bumps around them, transporting them somewhere presumably safer.
