y’know what I want to see more of with whumpees?

Dissociation

like most of the Whump I see has whumpees who remember everything clearly and are always crying and shi.

but what abt whumpees who dissociate heavily? Whenever they were tortured or whatever they mentally checked out of the situation, their mind somewhere far away from the pain.

and this carries over to when they’ve been rescued. Say Caretaker accidentally triggers them and instead of crying their eyes glaze over, mind already somewhere far away where they can’t be hurt

Im moving right now, all I wanna do is sit at my desk and write 😮‍💨 I have so many chapters to for Prince of The Sun I need to post… but I must pack and it’s hard to do get in the writing groove when my space is in such disarray

Whumpee and caretaker play fighting/ wrestling like you would with your siblings or friends, it’s all fun at first but for Whumpee it quickly reminds them of being attacked and they start crying. And caretaker doesn’t even notice (cuz it’s easy to confuse sobs for laughter when your play fighting and tickling) untill Whumpee has stoped fighting back and they’re pinned and they can even hide their tears and red face

whumpee who knows that they are only worth keeping around as long as they are useful. they run about, doing the chores, waiting on caretaker's hand and foot, even as anxiety eats them alive. what are their expectations? what does caretaker want from them? how can they prolong their stay? everything is a transaction, but caretaker keeps allowing them things they shouldn't without some very special favours. whumper only used to grant such privileges— food on the table, consistent sleep on the daily, warm baths everyday— in exchange for extremely good behaviour and— things they'd rather not think about.

so this freaks them out like nothing else. they're afraid, out of their mind with the fear that racks up and up— for what is given can be snatched away at any time. they can't let themself get used to it.

Character A is forcing themselves to stay behind, pleading with Character B to save themselves and go on. Character B is completely devastated, sobbing and refusing to leave A’s side. Realizing time has run out, A gives Character C a desperate nod/command to forcibly drag a kicking, screaming B away. The last thing heard over the chaos is a crushing final line from A, like "I love you" or a tender "Be good, kid." They’re heartbroken hearing the agonizing sound of B’s cries fading as they are pulled apart.

Character A realizes the only way to save Character B is to break their heart. When B refuses to leave them behind, sobbing and desperate, A resorts to desperate measures: they shove B away hard, masking their own terror with a harsh, fierce yell, forcing themselves to be mean just to shatter B's resolve. Terrified and deeply hurt, B turns and runs, tears blinding their eyes. As B flees, Character A is left behind, the mean facade instantly crumbling.
