posting this snippet bc i think it’s one of my favorite works i’ve had the pleasure to rp with my friend (rip my goat, they aren’t gone but they dont dabble in the hamilton fandom) and i wish i had their side of their replies BUT they deleted their instagram rp account so it’s all gone except for my side T-T
bit of context for the plot: this is sorta set in the 60s-70s?? i think?? anywho lafayette invites tj to a trivia night at a bar. aaron burr falls in love at first sight with him, unfortunately thomas’s attention gets taken by alexander. alexander is married to eliza but has an affair with thomas. everyone disapproves and tells them to quit it.
after a really rocky start of their acquaintanceship (tj finds aaron doubled over in an alleyway throwing up his flowers) thomas says fake dating might help each other keep their minds off who they love (not knowing aaron was in love with him but also completely bullshiting lol). aaron worsens, thomas gets better and eventually falls in love with aaron. once they confess to each other they get into a relationship, everyone is happy!! they get a house together under the guise that they’re “just roommates” before aaron invites the Main Group + tj’s daughter Mary (kinda oc of mine/based of his actual daughter) over for a morning tea but of course also included alexander.
alexander kisses thomas in the kitchen of the house and is confused why thomas never even looks or touches him anymore. this is practically immediately after! here u go:
Thomas can’t imagine how his daughter is feeling. She must be horrified. He reaches out to her, wanting to reassure her that he’s fine and even sets a hand softly on her arm but pulls away as quick as he had put it on her.
“I’ll talk with him. Hey, Mary, please. I’ll be okay.” He hopes she can simply play along. It would be hard and he is so much more used to the sight than she is, but she could be strong and he knew she would be able to help him with keeping this silent. There’s an urge to say something, reassure her that it’d be fine and he would live a happy life, but this had gone on too long. Alexander was in his thoughts constantly, he had been on the verge of falling in love again, only to be shoved off the edge by the man himself.
A kiss to her temple is a weak attempt at fixing things, but he eventually lets her catch her breath and makes his way to the master bedroom where he can start cleaning himself up.
It isn’t far and this time he double checks that the lock to the door was secure. The sweat makes him feel colder and soon enough he’s shoving himself into a second shower of the day so he could warm up. His fingertips tingle and along the sides of his head it’s beginning to feel like there’s a pressure squeezing him.
All of the evidence washes down the drain and changes clothes to go back into bed. The room is dark, he had the curtains completely closed, no light, and stuffed under the blankets so he could be comfortable.
Hopefully by now Aaron could leave him be for a little. Thomas could move past this. He didn’t need anyone to help him. The door was unlocked but hopefully he could have some privacy and he could tuck away the memory of today forever.
The room is a place of sanctuary. No knocking, no one stepping in. It’s just him and his thoughts. He suppresses any coughs in hopes that it was all a dream. By tomorrow morning he’ll be doing great, completely forgetting about Alexander and focusing on his life.
Only once does Thomas rush out of bed to throw up again. He might be exhausted but he cleans it all up to not worry his lover. The longer he lays there, eyes screwed shut tightly, the worse he feels and it’s not only because of the vines in him. Why didn’t he push Alexander off of him the minute he felt their lips together? He would be outside with his friends and family had he just avoided all interaction.
A swirling mix of guilt and frustration settles in him until he slowly falls asleep. Breathing is difficult and he only hopes he can be fine tomorrow.
Time passes quickly, at least that’s what it feels like since the next time he opens his eyes his boyfriend is in bed with him. The petals threaten to push through but he swallows and immediately leans in to interlace with Aaron. His head softly presses against his shoulder and he wraps his arms around his waist, tugging him as close as they could be and even then wanted to melt into him.
There’s no need to talk, especially not now when he tries to reassure Aaron he’s fine by pressing a feather light kiss to his shoulder. His throat is nearly ripped into shreds anyways, it would be way too obvious if he speaks anything that isn’t a whisper.
This moment of peace is what he needs, it’s the only one he wants to remember. Embraced in the arms of Aaron and after having had a wonderful enough morning with those he loved dearly.
The “migraine” doesn’t get better but it isn’t the first time Aaron had been around to see it last days. It’s a good enough excuse to avoid doing work and when his boyfriend has to go back to work, Thomas stays in bed like he had the last two days. While he’s gone he’s at liberty to throw up. It’s getting worse.
Breathing becomes more and more hard to the point where he wakes up from a nap or deep sleep to gasp at air. It’s not the way he wants to die. He should tell Aaron and especially as this elongates into almost a week but...
There’s not enough courage in him to tell his boyfriend that Alexander Hamilton had kissed him or how he was killing him again. The longer this goes on, the less he thinks he’s get better. A major part of the days he’s in bed and asleep. He only ever wakes up when Aaron briefly whispers or quietly talks to him about something.
He makes a quiet noise of confirmation when he hears him say something about how he has to go somewhere. Thomas can’t focus enough to pay attention or completely capture what he says and falls asleep soon after.
This time when he wakes up trying to breathe for air, he can’t quite get it. There’s small puffs and then he’s choking. Panic rises in him and he struggles to continue living, even shooting up to sit but grasps at his throat. It’s horrible and it lasts for several minutes until he sort of slumps down to accept it all.
Thomas’s vision becomes blurry until it completely darkens. His body no longer writhing in pain, pulse weak until completely diminishing.
