i saw the hunger games on stage yesterday :o somehow it felt it hit way too close to real life. i have been a fan since like 11 years old, i love the books. we’re so used to seeing constant killing and deaths in movies so we’re so numb to it. seeing these child actors acting out dying on stage, whilst there were capitol people indulging in parties and pleasure and fancy outfits, just felt like certain governments bombing countries whilst living their rich lives, and the citizens (us) just being like ok lemme go buy the newest fashions im being told to buy ☺️😊 i mean duh, that’s literally what the hunger games is and what is was written to be. this isn’t new info. but then the rich still profit off of this franchise and nothing changes 😑 didn’t the USA bomb countries last night? and then americans will wake up and post some tiktoks about stanley cups or whatever. i haven’t read the news properly yet i only just awake. i felt gross being in the audience

fav reads of the year, but i’m bad at using words so the reviews are short and sweet:

✶ The Secret History, Donna Tart

Yes I finally read it, I love the vibe. If they adapted it for tv or film in the 90s, it would’ve been perfect

✶Never Let Me Go, Kazuo Ishiguro

Great but I particularly like it because a portion of the book is set near where I live, a random infamous place. I didn’t even know this going into it. I was like woah x

✶The Island of Sea Women, Lisa See

Random read as it was free on my kindle, but it educated me a lot and was such a unique story, written in such a way where I can imagine being a sea woman so easily. Sometimes I feel as if I was meant to live a lot of my life in the ocean

Lowkey didn’t love that many of the books (32 ish) that I read this year. Worst were the famous ‘no longer human’, and ‘the girl with all the gifts’ <3
