will never understand the misogynistic inclination to pigeonhole every female character into the "exasperated sensible mom friend" role as if there's anything better than a woman so devoid of maternal instincts that she makes wire mother look soft. woman who rolls over and walks out onto the balcony to smoke a post-coital cigarette alone and leaves without a note or any kind of acknowledgement after sleeping with you because she can't stand the vulnerability of sleeping next to someone, or waking up beside them the following morning. woman whose idea of relaxing is abusing substances alone in a dark corner somewhere, and snarling and snapping at anyone who approaches her, regardless of intent. woman so emotionally unavailable she fails or refuses to notice that her lame ass partner is trying to push the divorce papers until they've taken the kids and left a heartfelt but scathing note pinned to the fridge. woman with more vices than genuine friends. woman whose expression stays blank and arms remain limply at her sides when you wrap her up in yours for a hug. woman without a gentle touch in her body, with nothing but rough edges and sharp angles.
this world needs more women who are just like your useless absent father but a girl. now more than ever.
My partner and I cancelled our Adobe accounts today because of this. Imagine if makers of physical art media had the right to pilfer your sketchbooks because you used their pencils and paints. That’s basically what Adobe is trying to foist on everyone.
These guys are way too famous for overreach. WTF.
Here's how to cancel for free

what's in the little critter's mouth??? Is it tasty??

bestie you will never guess what this Common Egg-Eating Snake is doing
An interesting demonstration of how the human brain works.
But also something of a lesson regarding perception, and the unreliability of subjective perspective versus objective reality.
You can be extremely certain about how you perceive the world, your "lived experience," that which you "feel it in my heart." But that doesn't mean it's actually true. And it doesn't mean we have to endorse it, or ignore or outright deny objective reality.
That's a "you" thing, not a "we" thing.
shout out to the sound designer who was like "I know exactly what kind of music to whip out for this one!"
I've never actually seen this before, and WOW is that cool!
Wha-
As soon as my friend moves up here later this year we're doing shrooms and I'm making them watch this
Older Black gay men in long term relationships are rarely covered or seen by main stream media.
I love seeing husbands (:
Ai* generated art sucks but not just for all the regular reasons, also for Expedepe, which will not leave my brain.

vegans making honey a bee labour issue is the funniest thing imaginable because like, you picked the one animal that has already unionised
You literally could not exploit bees if you TRIED
"Oh well if you stop the queen leaving the bees are trapped" wrong, bees can and will swarm without a queen. They will also make new queens if they don't think theirs is good enough
"Bees don't consent to their honey being taken" wrong, bees are actually more than intelligent enough to know we take the honey. They LET us take the honey if they think what we provide in return (shelter, food, protection) is a fair deal.
"Taking honey starves the bees" WRONG AGAIN! Domestic bees overproduce honey. A beekeeper NEVER takes honey the bees would need because then you piss off the bees, and if you piss off the bees you don't have any bees. They stockpile honey for the winter, but because domestic colonies do way better than wild ones they stockpile too much. That's why beekeepers can take out whole frames and then have them filled in no time. Domestic bees actively overproduce because they know humans are going to skim some off the top.
And if they didn't want humans to take it, beekeeping WOULD NOT work.
To keep bees you have to let them fly free. If they can fly free they can leave. Meaning if they don't like what you're doing, they WILL leave.
The whole idea they're basically slaves to the queen is also not true, they can just make a new queen literally whenever, and if they don't like her, they kill her.
There is no way for a beekeeper to exploit their bees. The bees are EMPLOYEES.
Employbees, if you will.
Local beekeepers producing honey are not exploiting bees.
But the people putting billions of bees on trucks, trucking them around the country from Florida citrus or avocado groves to California almond farms, feeding the bees sugar water, and using them to fertilise the fruits and vegetables that proud omnivores and vegans will be consuming, they are definitely exploiting and murdering bees.
Here's a link that explains the kind of thing I'm talking about:
Bees are essential to the functioning of America’s titanic almond industry – and billions are dying in the process

a Palestinian from my local group of activists is fundraising to bring her family to Canada. Najlaa is currently less than halfway to her goal of $80,000. please consider donating to help her family.
donations will go towards:
1. Covering the expenses of accommodation in Cairo, Egypt, throughout the visa and biometric process.
2. Meeting the cost of flight tickets from Cairo to Canada.
3. Securing affordable and suitable housing.
4. Addressing monthly necessities such as groceries, utilities, clothing, and shoes.
5. Ensuring access to healthcare and therapy, crucial for the well-being of our family members.
6. Providing monthly financial support until they secure employment.
To all compassionate souls, In this moment of profound vulnerability,… Najlaa Alzaanin needs your support for Bringing Najlaa's Family t
as of April 10, they have been able to start the process of acquiring visas and passports.
currently at $26,630/$80,000
May 11: $27,347/$80,000
that's over $700 in a day. please keep spreading and donating to keep up and even increase that momentum. you will be helping Najlaa's family including her brothers and sisters in law and her nieces and nephews - a family of 21 people! and remember, every little bit counts. if everyone who reblogged this donated 5 dollars, that would be almost $10,000. it's okay if you can donate even just $1, it all adds up.
May 15: $27,512/$80,000
donations have slowed down considerably. once again, please consider donating even a small amount, it still helps!
May 20: $27,707/$80,000
please keep sharing and donating, and thank you to everyone who has helped so far <3
When the rest of the world looks at the united states right now, we see a government who sends billions to support genocide but cannot help their own people starving on the streets.
We see a police force who won't go in to save children from school shootings, but deploy at a rapid rate to arrest peaceful protestors using their right to free speech to protest a genocide
America, you are a war mongering snake eating your own tail. You will protect and support war criminals in another country but let your own people starve and die
To the students bravely protesting now, we see your strength. We see what we saw when students protested the Vietnam War. We have faith you will prevail
I hope western leftists know that standing for a free Palestine is not the end of decolonization. I've seen far too many white leftists who proudly stand for freeing Palestine which is good but then get nervous and apprehensive at the idea of decolonizing the very land they are on. Norway will recognize Palestine but actively tear down Sámi liberation. Liberation for one people means it for us all. If you support Palestinian liberation but deny it for the Indigenous people of the land you're on then you didn't stand for Palestinians or any of us to begin with.
thinking about how my mom spent like 2 years getting downright vicious about the houseless folks who were camping in the woods past her house (to the point of getting a BB rifle that looked like a real fucking gun to threaten them with when they crossed in front of her house??) and justifying it with White Lady Fear a la "what if one of them does something to me! I am but a helpless white woman living all alone!!" and like...
y'all, she terrorized those people. every single time she saw someone outside, she was riling her dog up to bark, waving a gun in their faces (that for all intents & purposes they certainly thought was real), yelling at them, calling the cops (thank god the 2 rural-ass cops didn't actually give a shit), etc.
and she justified it with fears of womanly fragility & inability to defend herself, and I believe how afraid she was! she talked about fearing they would break into her house at night and sexually assault her, and I believe she was legitimately afraid of that. she's been victimized in many of the ways she was afraid of being victimized by them.
the thing is that it doesn't matter how real the fear is.
nothing ever happened, nobody ever tried to threaten her, nobody tried to break in, nobody even approached her. she initiated every single interaction. when she told them not to go through her yard, they did the best they could to respect that without giving up their camping spot; which was on someone else's property, who didn't mind them being there (not to mention one of them is actually indigenous to this specific land!)
she was a thousand times more threatening to those people than they ever were to her, but her fear of them was still real. and that's exactly what made her so dangerous.
I need cis women to internalize this ASAP. your fear is real, and it can and will hurt others. your fear is real, and it is harmful. your fear is real, and your hurt is not deserved, and you still need to grow & heal & prevent it from causing harm.
this is starting to get notes, so I just want to add:
this woman is bright & bubbly, she's pretty and young-looking, she's charming & charismatic. she's smart! she's successful in tech! she's got a nose ring and tasteful tattoos and she dyed her hair blue, she had an undercut for a bit, she's fashionably androgynous, she's got queer friends and she's An Ally(tm)! (hell, she'd likely be queer herself, if not for the gen X "I don't like labels" brainrot and internalized misogyny)
I worry that when I describe this side of her, people are envisioning a very unsympathetic caricature of a rural woman who lives alone and waves guns at trespassers. I don't want yall to picture a stereotypically Bitter Old Hag and distance yourselves from the possibility that you could know someone like this, or that you yourself could ever be this person to someone else.
my mother is on feminist tiktok, she asks me questions about puberty blockers so she can defend trans people to her friends, she shares tiktoks about ADHD with me (and has even shared her adderall with me when the pharmacy has run out of mine. in minecraft.)
she is also deeply conservative in many, many ways, and her fear- which, again, is often justified by her real-life experiences- lies directly at the root of that bigotry.
your fear is not better, purer, or less harmful than hers is.

Really beating the "you've built a concentration camp" accusations about gaza threatening to send inconvenient political dissidents there as a form of punishment aren't'cha?
Just a reminder for people who may not know, in light of protestors at UCLA being shot in the face with rubber bullets— rubber bullets are not bullets made of rubber. They are metal bullets encased in rubber.
Despite being called “non-lethal” or sometimes “less lethal”, they are well known to cause death and permanent disability.
Here’s a photo showing their size— these are actual rubber bullets used during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.
Do not let them downplay the severity of what they are subjecting this students to for standing against genocide. Stay safe and stay educated.
EDIT: Twitter banned @/nosferatusexgod, the student shot, whose tweet I linked to (as a primary source) at the top of the post. Screenshots of the tweet I originally linked to can be found here.
