17. Our characters sharing a lucid dream
"Hmm... Interesting, provided the situation before me, this must be a dream... Am I actually speaking? Or am I just thinking aloud? I can't say I've been this aware in a dream before. What is this phenomena?" In the world she was from, 'lucid dreaming' wasn't a term that had been coined yet, and whenever she heard of anything comparable to this sensation, it was usually something mages discussed, about 'training one's mind for magic'. Naturally, she switched off a little to such discussions as they hardly applied to her, but now she must admit that she was curious.
"If I were to take true control of this situation, I may just be able to manipulate my own dreams to my liking. I should take this chance while I have it... To think, just a few weeks ago, dreaming up a scenario like this would have been impossible." As, just a few weeks ago, she was still at home, in a world several centuries away from any developments like that of Hive City, and that twenty-first century city was the exact initial shape this dreamworld had taken, and for the time being, it seemed completely devoid of movement or life, that is, apart from one other figure. A man she hadn't met before, but a 'prisoner' in Hive City just like herself.
The Amazon stepped towards the figure, though she still wasn't controlling herself, much more like vividly observing herself. She was trying her hardest to take control, but wasn't sure how to go about it. For now she just felt like a camera, observing a scene. Something about this other fellow's presence was unusual too, he didn't seem like something that had just been conjured up from her own imagination.
Amongst all of her attempts to control her own body, the tall woman had finished approaching Verasul, it was bizarre, witnessing one's self as a separate entity from your own consciousness. The Amazon's body held out her hand as if asking for the man to hand her something, and the next words that were spoken only made Cordelia's floating mind wish this was a perfectly normal dream.
"Did you find the fish?"
...
Perhaps if this was a normal dream, she'd understand what her body was talking about.

But for real if anyone is interested on the idea of a small mercenary group within the Hive focused on slaying demons/monsters/insterhereanothercreepykindofcreature/etc I might make it happen!
"I approve of this idea."
"Hello there, miss. are you new here? This place is so big its difficult to see if you have been seen before by this one"
"I am a moderately recent arrival, yes. A couple of weeks ago I should think. I certainly haven't seen you before, nor have I seen anybody else like myself. I quite assure you that you would know if you had met me before. As I tend to be rather awe-striking. I am not an easy one to forget."
"Copious volumes of food and drink?" He suddenly cracks a smile.
"Nobody told me about that part." Maybe this holiday wasn’t as much of a waste of time as he thought.
"Truly, if a celebration is lacking in either food, or drink, give or take some of one or the other, then what is to celebrate?"
"Naturally, if nobody told you about the food or drink, then clearly one must spread word of said food or drink! And continue to spread said word until said word is common knowledge!" Amazon warriors may have been honourable in their traditions, but boy did they know how to party!
"Hahah! What a jolly spirit on this fair evening!"
"I shall have to tell tales of these festivities back at home, I'm sure everyone will find pleasure in having yet something else to celebrate! With copious volumes of food and drink!"

"Nothing is wrong in particular." He made eye contact with the woman while she spoke and didn’t break it until she was done speaking, he then looked at the wooden weapon she had in her hands. He didn’t doubt her claims of it being an insufficient weapon. It obviously didn’t suit her build, but when it came to logic in these worlds it didn’t mean anything. "I can see that, your body craves the extra weight. You might get it back eventually."
The tall woman let out a sigh and shrugged her shoulders, clearing a lock of wild blonde hair from in front of her eye. "I should hope so. I haven't been here for long, so if I may ask; are you aware of any methods for retrieving such an item? Thankfully, nothing in this city seems beyond the efforts of my fists, but I'd rather not get rusty from not having my axe around."
You Seated Yourselves... | [Closed @Sorceress]
This was about as nostalgic as things would get around here. This tavern was furnished similarly to what she was used to back at home, though of course it had a generally more modern twist to it. It was a fairly crowded place, bustling with other city dwellers, and it had taken some time to get the rowdy folks to leave her alone. Back in Hydeland, seeing a barely-dressed Amazon wasn't nearly as quick to turn heads as in this place.
But still, she'd been drawn to this place by its familiar charm, but the sensation would quickly be ruined by one thing; how solitary she felt among the crowds. Gathering an adventuring party wasn't just going to happen here, these people didn't need to fight for their own well-being. Civilisation functioned so very differently here, and whilst she'd found some like-minded individuals, she was still feeling a little homesick. The mead just didn't taste as good as home's either... This table was far too empty.
"Barkeep! Bring me more mead!" Her deep voice bellowed out, likely shocking a few of the other patrons. She'd managed to steer most of the crowd away from her table through intimidation alone, it was needless to say that dwelling on her situation wasn't making her a very happy camper.
"Yeah, more or less. I usually find myself in all types of situations, so it pays to have my body ready to adjust to any climate changes."
He’d spent more than a few days in blizzards, so being used to such temperatures was essential. Otherwise he’d simply die in a day or so. The fact that these people already had trouble dealing with coldness of this degree meant that they weren’t suited for an adventurer’s life.
"Heh. Swinging a big, metal version of this thing demands a lot of upper body strength. Not to mention the kind of shit I have to fight on a daily basis, so I have to keep my body in peak condition. Haven’t gotten much chance to train these days though, so I’m probably a bit rusty."
"Indeed, I'd even say that I struggle moreso in the heat of summer. It makes fighting more hazardous to my health when I dehydrate so quickly."
She gave a quick shrug of her shoulders, thinking about how terribly scorched one must get in a suit of armour in such heat. The bangles on her biceps got hot enough, having a body covered in heated steel would be a hindrance.
"Times like that make me glad that I dress so lightly. It also makes swinging my own big, metal weapon much less tedious without anything to get in the way. I could do with having that thing to haul around. This pathetic replica is the sort of thing I carried around as a toddler."
"Fair fellow? My my, you honor me with your words…" Libra was used to being called a woman, so to be recognized as a man… it was truly a compliment. He nodded once at her. "Indeed? Well I envy you then. The last time I got a flu, it was… bad, to say the least."
The tall woman bowed her head gracefully, as if saying 'You are most welcome.' Her immediate ability to percieve Libra's sex may have been linked to the fact that she would have spent almost 100% of her upbringing around exclusively women, having been raised among a tribe of other Amazon warriors. She had grown pretty sharp as discerning men from women, not to mention she knew some similarly effeminate looking men...
"In which case you may take that envy as a motivation to further better yourself! A healthy body is a body that fights infections well, but you seem quite healthy nonetheless, to have developed such untarnished features."

"Do I really look that way? It’s rude for you to assume such a thing of someone that you don’t even know. I’m sure you dislike it when people assume something of you that is wrong before you can even clarify it."
The tall woman gave a hearty laugh, waving her hand dismissively. "Oh no no, of course I don't like that, though it tends to happen all the time around here. Anyhow; I meant it in a nice way! A good drink can warm anyone's soul!"

" Oh madam, you wound me. To put me among such common street thugs. "
He jazz handed in front of her, waving his leather gloved hands to show they are of no harm. Hell, he even pulled them off and dropped them to the ground, showing her more bandage wrapped body parts. Not that his drapes were pristine clean, the constant burn marks and wounds on his body always stained the bandages.
The Zaunite had no ill intentions, he just wanted to cop a feel to see how her muscles were like.
" As you can see, these hands are completely sharpless and poison-free. … I could pay you in return. “
"If I must wound you to squeeze a little more trust out of you, then so be it, it'll work out better for both of us in the end."
Being from an era long before the glorious age of jazz-hands, his gesture just seemed to confuse her a little. She took a glance at those heavily stained bandages, taking note that he seemed to not be hiding any weapons. Though she'd probably prefer that he puts his gloves back on if he wanted to touch anything.
"Ahah, no no, I'd rather you didn't pay me. My physique is priceless. Any amount of coin would surely be degrading." She gave another confident chuckle, lifting one of her arms up into a flexing stance before tensing, the golden bangle around her biceps looked like it was struggling to stay in shape.

"I’m actually ecstatic to see you today. I wish I could show you my true emotions." Sarcasim ran through his lungs.
"Yes, yes I'm sure." The sarcasm was fairly clear to her too. What could have happened to make this man so disgruntled with life? "Sounds to me like you need a drink. Or maybe you've had too much already?"
