Hello,
I am the migraine hater and I despise all migraines I find.
I have been afflicted with severe migraines since September of 2023. Ever since then I have been looking for the migraine medication that could help me one day.
On this blog I will be chronicling what has helped me, what I will try next, and what to look out for if you are doing the same.
I will be using this blog as advice and help as well as writing out my journey.
Come along and let’s fight these migraines.

Usually chocolate is a trigger for me, but it helps you? Eating it frozen is absolutely genius. Maybe frozen food will help me.
I fucking hate playing pain Olympics with people who think their ability to withstand pain and bullshit without issues should earn them a fucking medal.
I gave up on taking my migraine shot preventable today because I just cannot get past my overactive self preservation instinct. My whole body tenses up and panics at the notion of doing ANYTHING that gives me pain. I've had to trick my brain so much just to take these shots: distracting myself with music, covering the injector, covering the injector with so many towels/pieces of clothing that I pull on those to inject instead of touching the button (which my brain reacts to on its own!)... And it STILL takes me 45 minutes to get myself to do the thing. And I can't help it, I scream when it hits me every time!
And this Very Experienced Pain Olympics person is like "oh I don't even feel it I just push a button" like. Great! Good for you! Must be nice to not have to fight your own overactive self preservation instinct like that! DO YOU WANT A FUCKING MEDAL and do you want it down your throat or up your ass?
My mother, who probably owns an entire case of gold pain Olympics medals, told me not to scream (and then forgot she said that because she's old and fighting cancer and her brain is even more useless than mine for holding shit). Must be nice.
I will take any other option (aside from Botox because uhhh please no) as long as I never have to inject myself again. I can't do this. Between getting so tense that I get migraines right after taking my shot and the bizarre flack I'm getting from other people about my inability to handle it I'm just done
I hate being neurodivergent, I hate getting flexed on for not being a pain champ, I fucking hate these garbage people in this dumpster fire world. I'll blow myself up before I let society use my body to plug a dam.
What are you going to try next? I take Botox and it is definitely NOT for everyone. I’ve also done self injections; Definitely anxiety inducing, full stop. And it can be very painful. I definitely get screaming from it, because it is a bastard to feel on injection AND to hold it down as well when the first your thought from your broken af brain tells you is “GET AWAY!”
I’m going to try IV injections next but I don’t know how you’d feel about getting stuck by someone else?
The best thing that’s worked for me has been dissolvable tablets— But they’re for acute reactions. Nurtec, an acute migraine tablet, could be used as a preventative though.
Could you let me know what you do going forward?
I’ve gone through so many pills. Some were useless, some were worse than others, and so many aggravated mental disorders horribly.
It’s throwing darts on a board, except you’re the board. Hellish.
It all starts to feel useless after awhile.
I'm extraordinarily salty about all the "If you have a migraine, you'll know" comments that I've seen on here.
I have both constant low-level headaches in one temple as a side-effect of my medication and a previously-detached retina.
It took me at least six years (and at least two frantic visits to the eye doctor) to realize that what I had were migraines, because I didn't connect the visual symptoms with the headache, and I didn't even consider that they might be migraines because "I'd know if I had them."
It took a particularly bad stretch where I got multiple migraines in the course of months and nothing helped besides submerging my temples in a hot bath before I figured it out.
I'm on triptans now and also take magnesium supplements.
Tl;dr: If you have headaches you can't explain, consider the fact that they might be migraines and see a doctor about it, even if you think they can't be.
Remember not all migraines are particularly painful— Ocular migraines are very prevalent but not discussed enough!

too much migraine to read. too much Adderall to do anything else.
Try doing activities where you’re using your hands but don’t need to see much; Like organizing a small space, folding clothes, origami, knitting, cleaning something small. I usually have “fidget fingers” that pets gravitate to, and I can focus an watch a movie if I’m petting my dog.
Petting, podcast, and doing a small chore or organizing something— even digitially— helps with this feeling.
Decided to say fuck it to my congestion. Closed myself in the guest bathroom, blocked out all ventilation, turned my massive humidifier on full blast and ran myself the hottest bath i can stand.
This is my enclosure. I live here now. I have recreated the water cycle in a matter of minutes and can finally breathe.

I'll never forgive the creators of pokemon for what they did to psyduck. Inventing a poor innocent creature and then giving it chronic migraines. Every time i see one i want to cry. I feel you little buddy...
Doctors telling patients with chronic pain to just treat it themselves with ibuprofen should be malpractice.
I should not consistently hear medical professionals recommended taking ibuprofen every day without even mentioning any possible negative repercussions or ways to mitigate them.
Ibuprofen is a beloved angel that lives in a bottle on my countertop but she will give you internal bleeding if you just take her every day or don't take her with food and I have never once heard any of the many doctors who try to say that over the counter painkillers like ibuprofen are an appropriate treatment for chronic pain.

The migraine community has these problems of having their migraines mistaken for headaches, but your pain is valid!
We Experience bring medically gaslight to simply drink more water, exercise, and lose weight. And while those can help, those simply won’t cut it.
Your pain is valid. Your pain is legitimate. And you know your body’s pain is important to address!

talking to myself in the mirror like I’m texting a friend: taking pain meds is morally neutral. You do not have to cross some threshold of pain to ‘deserve’ to take pain meds. You are in pain. Take the fucking meds. Don’t wait for it to get worse
Waking up to a lovely thunderstorm when the kids spent the night at grandmas only to have it ruined by the agony of migraine and no coffee in the house because I forgot to get anymore yesterday because I was hyperfixations in trying to clean the house to make it ready to be able to decorate for the holidays to give my kids the magic of the season which caused me to be short tempered and yell which made me feel like a piece of shit and clench my jaw a lot to keep the mounting tension at bay which is likely why I have this migraine now and I’m lucky my husband is a kind man who is going to the store to get me coffee but man the migraine meds better kick in because I have to clean more today or I will continue to feel overwhelming chaos in my own home and maybe I am also avoiding missing my dad since this is the first December without him and I am sad.
Anyway my heart his my enemy right now babes.
