how did you come to shipping your two ocs together? what's their story, I'm interested!
Aah THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING! this is gonna be super long, but but I am having so much fun, and it’s something I don’t really get with rp ships because I can 100% delve into the minds of my characters and see how they would interact and develop together etc.
it’s still massively WIP buuuut it started from a silly conversation with my friends, saying what DC characters our OC’s would dress up as for halloween. Sachiko ( my other OC @itai-doshin ) was decided to be Batman & a little later we decided that Nari would be cat woman.
I jokingly said ‘Can my two oc’s bang? absolutely.’ but then my friend Aries asked a few thought provoking questions, would they work, how would they meet etc etc.
I thought about it A LOT & below is why I think it would be an interesting ship:
Well, Sachiko & Nari appear to be two incredibly different people, one is a crimelord, a murderer who enjoys inflicting pain. A dishonest thief and smuggler ; she is ruthless, narcissistic. The other one is earnest, tries to be as honest as she can & loves making new friends, her favourite thing to do is make others feel loved & appreciated. Acts like a bit of a goofball; a maternal soul. CLASSIC tropes of GOOD and BAD.
The only obvious similarities they both have are coming from very poor backgrounds but even then there are distinct differences: Nari, an orphan, has earned wealth ( via criminal acts ) & escaped poverty. Sachiko, has a very large family who is still struggling with finances ( & debt ) & she supports via honest means ( for now ).
HOWEVER, they are NOT as different as one ( or even they ) might think. They are both practiced liars & mask the bitterness & resentment they hold very, very well, both troubled but secretive about it — fiercely independent.
It would be a ship that takes a while to get going, because at first they see each other as they want others to see them ( Nari; cold, bitch, distant snob, shallow. Sachi; idiot, always happy, naive, clumsy. ), It would take more than just a few encounters for them to realize otherwise, but traits they also share are being able to notice another person who wears masks, who lies. The best lairs can tell when another is lying, after all, & they are the best.
So, eventually they would notice the signs. The hidden secrets. See parts of themselves in each other & while their struggles may be very different ( Nari hiding her criminal syndicate as a professional museum cruator, Sachi hiding the dangerous debt and violence that comes with it as the happy, bubbly girl ) it’s the uncontrollable desire / need to hide them which draws Nari & Sachiko together.
When they discover this they are both surprised but there is an odd sense of comfort shared between them because there’s an unspoken understanding. We need to lie, we need to hide, or we won’t survive our own minds.
So, then imagine a long, long period where they slowly get to know each other. It’s not love, not yet, but something unlike they’ve ever experienced before. Slowly peeling the layers away and inching closer and closer to the truth of each others situation. Lots of angst and arguments from Sachiko’s side bc it’s frightening, she’s never done this before. Then Nari will find herself WANTING to comfort, which is frightening because SHE’S never done that before. At least, genuinely.
A big big BIG thing Sachiko would need to confront & overcome with Nari ( & possibly one of the biggest challenges in their friendship / relationship ) is discovering her friend’s criminal dealings, that she’s a MURDERER and has NO PLAN to stop. She ENJOYS being insidiously destructive & stealing for no one’s gain but her OWN. Sachiko at heart is a genuinely GOOD person so the biggest challenge would be trying to WRAP her head around the HOWS and WHYS of Nari’s disturbed mind.
Then, she’ll realize, for someone like her there is NO understanding. She either has to accept it or walk away. So, it’s make or break. Nari would become distant, allowing the other to come to that decision on her own ( but inside she is TERRIFIED. being JUDGED, not having the CONTROL over what the outcome might be. THAT is Nari’s biggest struggle, OVERCOMING her own twisted mind and allowing Sachiko to do as she sees fit ).
Sachiko stays, because she’s attached, because she’s used to welcoming those with bloodied hands into her arms & her heart. & she realizes she’s falling for all that Nari has shown herself to be —- this, this is a part of that. Accepted. Struggling, a constant struggle to accept, to turn a blind eye, to immerse herself in that world.
Nari, not wanting to endanger Sachiko but wanting to LAVISH her in the luxury her own life affords. Feeling UNCERTAIN and SCARED because she’s not used to wanting those things for SOMEONE ELSE. Nari’s entire life has been working towards a goal which benefits ONLY HERSELF. sharing her empire is not something she ever imagined for her future, not something she ever thought she would WANT but she does.
Sachiko STRUGGLING with her parents debt, STRUGGLING when Nari discovers and STRUGGLING when she offers to pay it in full. Would she then be indebted to Nari? Even if she said she wasn’t, wouldn’t Sachiko always FEEL that way? Sachiko STRUGGLING when Nari discovers about the vicious attacks from gang members, hounding her for money and BEATING. Nari STRUGGLING when Sachiko tells her that SHE CANNOT kill them because it will WORSEN her family’s situation.
their entire relationship is a STRUGGLE, but its a struggle that is FAMILIAR and becomes a HOME. Something they constantly work on, but moments so tender, because NO ONE understands their troubles, their minds their habits their mannerisms better than EACH OTHER.
Of course it all ends in tragedy. Sachiko DIES ( MURDERED ) & Nari COMPLETELY SELF DESTRUCTS. her beloved empire CRASHES and BURNS at her feet —- but that is another story altogether i’m sort of constructing with @omertaveined ( THE MURDERER )
