There’s something about surprising Corbeau with lunch.

Showing up to his office with a bag completely full of a freshly made meal for him. Corbeau accepts it, always, but not without a light tease. “Are you trying to make me look soft?” He smirks, but it’s really to hide how his heart aches at the gesture. You went out of your way just for him? He’ll have to pay you back tenfold.

“I know you’re busy.” You tell him, “I just wanted to make sure you had lunch.” When you lean in to kiss his cheek, he turns his head and meets your lips. You can taste the lingering cigarettes on his lip, and feel better about sliding a few sticks of gum in the pocket of the lunchbox.

“How’d I get so lucky with you?” He murmurs, “you’re too kind for your own good.”

“I just brought you lunch.” You chuckle, kissing the tip of his nose. “Got to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.”

Corbeau grins. “Always.”

It’s almost an hour after you leave that Corbeau finally has time to dig into the meal you made. He opens the box, and reaches for the yellow sticky note stuck to the top.

“Love you <3”

His lip quivers and throat tightens as he reads it twice, three times, before sticking it onto the keyboard of his open laptop. Corbeau shakes away any tears long before they could born, forcing them deep down as he digs into the meal you provided.

The leftovers from Restaurant Le Wow sit forgotten in the break room fridge, because Corbeau would much rather eat your lunch than what he initially planned on. Your meal tastes better, anyway, even if it’s nothing more than store bought.

Corbeau and reader just started dating. Hes still trying to act cool (and failing miserably) theyre just hanging out on a roof top one night and he reaches for a smoke. Realizes he forgets his lighter and their partner just casually says they have one. Corbeau’s brain into overdrive cause you dont smoke. So why do you have a lighter? Shyly admit youve been carrying one around for him just incase. Queue both of you becoming beet red unable to look each other in the eye.

OHMYGOD YES

Corbeau is the kind of man who would always put in this silent effort to make sure he's accommodating for everything you need. He knows your routine, he knows your likes and dislikes before you even tell him because he did a background check on you during the loan incident and he makes sure to follow closely with everything that will make you happy.

But he doesn't expect the same kind of love in return, as a matter of fact he never even thought he'd receive it.

So when it's staring him in the face, that you're putting in just as much effort as he is, he doesn't know how to act. He freezes for a moment as he processes it.

And then he pulls you into his arms and kisses you like he never plans on letting go.

Cosmic Coffee and cosmic love

Even in his sleep, Corbeau holds you tight.

He always insists on cuddling up to you in some way, adoring the way you snuggle closer to him in your sleep, like there’s nowhere else you’d rather be than in his arms. It soothes him to his own rest, where he’ll remain clinging to you, so nothing can pry you away from him. Sleep used to feel vulnerable, sometimes it still does, but your presence night after night gives him the feeling of calm and stability he always longed for.

When he wakes, he likes to lay there and admire you, watching every slow, relaxed breath. He’ll press gentle kisses to your forehead, careful not to make you stir, Arceus forbid he wakes his sleeping love.

When he can afford the time, most often on days off, he loves to treat you with breakfast in bed. He always dreamed of this life, of someone to share in the simple pleasures, so now that he has it, he’s going to spoil you and savour every quiet morning.

"i think she likes me," corbeau says out of the blue. he looks to philippe, as if for validation, his fingers fiddling with the cap of the coffee cup you brought into the office 10 minutes ago.

"maybe she's just being polite, boss. ya always give her things to take home." masala from alola, wine from paldea, whatever souvenirs from his work trips or business meetings.

corbeau just shrugs and brings the cup to his lips. it's a fresh cup, hot and fragrant. you've made it a habit to bring coffee for him an philippe, and some snacks for the pokemon.

you always ask for scolipede. corbeau thinks you're trying to get to him through his pokemon.

the coffee today is a less sweet than usual.

"maybe," he replies, a frown pulling at the ends of his lips.

philippe walks to the desk and sets his own empty coffee cup down. "not to put you down, but i wouldn't count my eggs before they hatch. if you like her, you should make a move."

"perhaps," corbeau considers.

because what's the point if you don't know how he feels

philippe is a little nosy so he's picked up on this behavior of yours and asked some grunts to eavesdrop at the truck lol
