What’s the Right Walking Schedule for a Puppy?
When I first brought my puppy home, I wasn’t sure how often we should be going out for walks. I was concerned about pushing them too hard and affecting their developing joints, but I also didn’t want them to miss out on enough activity. Once I learned more about an age-appropriate walking schedule, it gave me clarity and made daily planning feel much easier.
I soon realized that brief, frequent walks were far more effective than longer ones. By tailoring our walks to my puppy’s age and energy levels, I noticed they were calmer, more content, and easier to train. Walks shifted from being purely about exercise to meaningful moments of discovery and learning.
Sticking to a consistent walking routine also helped tremendously with socialization. My puppy became more at ease around unfamiliar sights, sounds, and people without feeling overstimulated. When it comes to your new companion, you can never be too safe, especially outdoors. For added peace of mind, I knew I’d eventually want extra protection beyond a leash.
Once my puppy reached six months old and weighed over 20 pounds, the Halo Collar 5 felt like a natural next step. Built with unmatched advancements in GPS technology, it functions as a virtual dog fence unlike any other. Having that added layer of safety made our walks and outdoor time feel more relaxed and enjoyable, allowing me to focus on bonding while knowing my puppy was well protected.
