︻デ═一 Eyes widen behind his mask. His heart beat picks up, drumming against his ribs. He doubted home meant his safe house. Out of all things he really didn’t want to be handed over to the Bat.   ❝ I’d rather go to prison. ❞   Jason cringed.  He could still beat and kill criminals in prison, escape easy enough he was Bruce’s son after all, keep doing what he’s doing with only a week set back.     Easy.     Being returned to the manor on the other hand?

             Such a worse fate.

obstinate and unyielding, where has he met that before? He shakes his head, almost a smile to his lips, stepping closer then. Arms still folded over his chest. Studying the boy’s inner panic at the thought of Bruce, he imagined. Their complicated relationship always brings such intense feelings bubbling to the surface. 

“Then tell me what’s going on here.”

she had to admit, the idea of a real loving family was something she’d entertained when she was younger. but as she had gotten older she had all but let go of that dream, especially in light of… recent events. and now, here was superman, one of the few genuinely good people she’d met in her entire life, offering her more than a place to stay. he was offering a home, a safe place for her to heal.

and for once, wyn couldn’t find it an ulterior motive. of course she didn’t expect anything less from someone who knew nightwing so well. he said he just wanted to help her, that what happened to her was wrong. and he was right, the torture and the abuse she went through was wrong. but there was very little she could do about that now.

when superman, clark, offered his hand she took it. and for the first time she felt like she could truly trust someone. “ yeah. i am. ” she didn’t want to elaborate but she hoped he understood that this, trusting someone she barely knew ( and letting them touch her, even if it was just a handshake ) was already a very large step for her.  “ thank you. ”

clark smiles an easy smile. A tender curve on his lips. One he’d wore on so many occasions in so many different situations but one that hasn’t lost its sheen. It might be the Kansas in him. Or the Martha and Jonathan Kent. But there was always comfort in showing your human nature, he recalls his Pa says to him a few times. And in moment of weaknesses, moments of change, moments of healing such as now, it was the best thing Clark could really offer. 

Both hand covers hers then. Smile still settled on his lips. “ That’s good.” He remarks, nodding. “ You’re welcome. “ He adds immediately after, his little Kansas twang coming out near the end. “ Do you want to go now? Or do you want to talk some more? No rush, you know.”

a low grunt and he tilts his head to the side. Eyes narrowed at her. 

“ And what itch is that exactly, Yen?”

“I was hoping for a few answers and questions.” Maybe that wasn’t the first thing he should have said, but he supposed that there was no turning back now as he took a step froward. “You may very well have them.” Something that he hoped the other would have in all reality - even if the truth of the matter was doubtful.

“Why do you even think I would leave Gotham? The improvements i’ve made there over the last few weeks have made it… quite the place to live. Now that crime is at all time low.”

the answer was simple: it wasn’t his bruce. Whatever that meant. But he knew that wouldn’t suffice. What had happened, what was happening, was a complication in the grander scheme of the multiverse. And as much as he wanted to hate it, there wasn’t a lot that Clark could do to fix it right now. 

“ Because I would have thought, “ He paused, trying to hold back on the words without sounding cruel. He was right after all, he was helping Gotham. But the unease at the base of his spine had yet to go away. “ You would have preferred to go back to yours. “

The man was currently looking over notes in his Director of SHIELD office within the SHIELD Helicarrier that was currently flying over a random city, state and area. SHIELD systems and drones were discretely flying over the area and scanning it for any signs of criminal activity and generally something bad going on. For the sake of his crusade.

However Lee had sensed a unique presence in the area they were flying over. And also signs of potential crime. It would seem that unique presence had spotted one of his drones. The man knew what was coming, what was going to happen next. His senses and future visions hadn’t let him down so far. So he was inclined to believe them completely.

Lee made his way out onto the landing area of the SHIELD Helicarrier because his senses told him that the unique presence would come here. In fact, he was on his way right now. The man politely waited for the unique presence with a smile on his features. Well, wouldn’t you know. It seems the unique presence was none other then Superman.

clark has never liked the drones. It always felt like fear dressed as  hyper-vigilance on the government’s part as far as Superman saw it. And he was someone who can hear nearly every voice and every heart beat on the planet. But it felt different when held by a state that could easily fall in favor with the law and chose to ignore it. 

When he sees one hovering by, he figured it was best to take a look at the source. Following it and meeting on the top of the a building, a quick thorough glance showed was a little more than just ordinary. Boots scuff against the asphalt as he landed. Arms folding over his chest. 

A small harmless smile on the man’s features, prompting a quick and curt one on his. “ What are the drones for, Director?”
