a muggle cinema
@ivy-rosmerta
With her career taking off, Millicent didn’t have much time for recreational activities. Most of her time was spent at her desk or on the field, meetings with the Wizengamot or in bed trying to get more than six hours of sleep. Her thoughts were full of what’s next and who’s out there, but there was only one question that sat heavy on her shoulders and weighted down on her lungs. Amelia brought it up the last time they were together: running for Minister for Magic. She was so sure Millicent was up for such a task, but she wasn’t as confident as her colleague, yet it was still something she couldn’t take her mind off of.
The only thing she was running for was worst friend of the year. Ivy was the closest thing Millicent had to a sister. They were two sides of the same coin and as of lately, Millicent has been putting her low on the priority list. Guilt racked her, even if she knew Ivy would understand.
Millicent was born to a muggle mother, but she grew up in the wizarding world because of her father. Her family practiced some muggle traditions only because her parents encouraged it, but Millicent and her brothers gravitated to the magical side of their father’s family.
She had never been to the movies before and even though the building read in bright lights THEATER on the front, it wasn’t the type of theater Millicent was use to. If there was one thing Ivy really knew about Millicent it was that she’s always up for something new.
She spotted her friend down the sidewalk, walking towards her with a smile. Millicent waved and jogged over to her, looping their arms together. “I’ve been here for ages!” She teased, her smile turning apologetic. “I’m sorry I’ve been sort of ignoring you. Since the Minister’s death, things have been so unsettling lately. I can barely get away from my desk or an assignment. Forgive me?”

“History?” Daisy’s eyebrows drew for a moment in concentration. Coming to a conclusion, fingers drumming on the counter as she stepped around, she nodded, a sense of certainly. “Of course! If you’ll only follow me, please. Might I ask if there is any specific history you’re hoping to find?”
Millicent chewed on her lip for a short second, contemplating. She really hadn’t given it much of a thought. She had hoped that she would know what she was looking for when she found it, but that didn’t seem to be the case. “Our government? I work in the Ministry, and I wanted to brush up on the subject. Make sure I don’t misquote someone because I most certainly would.” She chuckled lightly as she followed Daisy through the bookstore.

Looking at the older woman a warm smile lit up her face, she had always thought that Millie was surely among the most admirable people she ever knew. “Wise words, only living after them is a little more complicated.” She replied with a chuckle as she took a few steps closer to the desk. “Thank you for doing this with me and yes, I’m totally ready to go.” Holding the door open for her she realized they hadn’t talked about where to go yet. “Can we use the gym here?”
“There’s no need for thanks. I’m just happy to help.” She smiled with a small shrug of her shoulders. Millicent didn’t think of herself as the best teacher in the world. She often came up with her ideas in the middle of a training and sometimes she had a hard time putting her thoughts into words, but Charity had been patient the whole time. The witch was easily one of Millicent’s favorite young people. “Oh, right, of course. It’s just down the hall,” she gently nudged Charity on her arm to follow her to the gym. One of the perks of the Hit Wizard’s office was having the gym be a two minute walk away.
“How have you been? I feel like I hardly have time to sit down and just talk to anyone these days. It’s all about work and this war.”

xbenjyfenwick:
Today was an anomaly, Benjy and his friends had found themselves with short shifts and no other responsibilities, they had decided in true responsible adult fashion that they needed a night out. They had planned to met up at this pub and see where the night would take them. Of course Benjy was running late, as always, and upon arriving at he pub he quickly scanned the place to locate his friends. They were not there, either they were running late too or they had already left. As he took another look around he wondered if they were playing a prank on him. Just as his eyes passed the bar he spotted a familiar figure, at least he was convinced it was one of his friends. He made his way to the bar with a smile on his face.
The voice did not belong to any of his friends, but his smile did no fade because he recognized the owner of the voice. ❝Miss Bagnold!❞ Benjy said with a cheerful tone, ❝how’s it going?❞
Millicent was a regular at this particular pub. Most nights she is often the one to buy a round or two for the other patrons, playing drinking games, and making sure the bar fights don’t get too out of hand. Although, sometimes she can be found right smack in the middle of a brawl, but that was just who Millicent was. She was always prepared for a fight whether it’s harmless rowdiness or a life or death situation. But tonight was different. She wasn’t in the mood for a drinking partner and lacked the brain power to even pretend to care.
The pub door opened, but Millicent paid it no attention. The bottom of her glass had captured her focus, the swirling of amber liquid making it easy for her mind to wander into the depths of her imagination. She rarely let it do so.
Someone was talking to her, but all she could do was roll her eyes as she turned to face the too cheery tone. “What does it matter- Oh!” Her face fell and turned into one of surprise, half of an awkward laugh left her mouth. “Sorry, Benjy. I didn’t realize it was you. You can call me Millicent, you know. Outside of the Ministry, of course,” she gave Benjy a cheeky wink and then shrugged, taking a quick sip of her drink. “I’m well. Same routine, different day. How are you?”

who we are || millicent & amelia
justameliabones:
They had gotten word that one of the Hit Wizard squads had been met with resistance, that there had been a problem and there was the possibility of back up needed. On high alert, Amelia prepared herself to be able to go in and assist, her heart tight in her chest as she realized that the individuals in question included none other than Millicent Bagnold.
Teeth dug sharply into her bottom lip, her fingers gripped tight around the curling decorated hilt of her wand, feeling extreme trepidation. Millicent was one of their best, and if something had gone wrong with her on the team, then she knew whatever they were facing down was impossibly dangerous. She could only hope that the other woman was safe, because out of everyone in the department, she looked up to her the most.
She was strong, fierce, and independent. All the things that Amelia wanted to be. She had a quiet presence about her that exuded to all those that surrounded her an authority that she knew she would personally never want to question. If anyone could make it out of a precarious situation, she had faith that is was Millicent.
As she got news of their return, relief washed through her, tingling in her veins, as her feet carrying her towards the other woman’s office before her commanding officers could even get a word in edgewise to stop her. Creaking open the door, she smiled to herself as she saw her, feet up on the desk and resting as she slid inside, closing the door behind her silently.
Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she took a seat, cocking her head to the side. “Seems like you’ve beat the odds again, Millicent,” she said with a smile, leaning forward on the desk before her. “When are you going to just take charge and show these boys how much better than them you are? We both know you’re the best choice to be in command. Though, maybe after you take a nap. Merlin, what happened out there?”
You’ve beat the odds again. It hurt to laugh, but she didn’t dare to try and stop it. Millicent didn’t believe in luck, but even she was surprised by how much she has survived and how many times she has gotten out of what seemed like impossible situations. It didn’t matter if it was just fate or her perseverance. What mattered was that the job got done, and now there was a little less darkness in the world, even if it didn’t seem like it most days.
“I suppose I have,” she rolled her eyes, but it was with a smile. Amelia was probably the easiest person for Millicent to talk to. Sometimes it surprised her with how much they had in common even if she was seven years older, but there wasn’t a single thing that she would change about their friendship.
Amelia reminded Millicent of herself. Growing up with brothers, working in a man’s world, having to navigate their lives through a sick world. Millicent knew from the second she met the young woman that she was going to make it into the history books.
“And trust these boys alone on the front lines? Yeah right.” She sighed as she shook her head fiercely. How many times have they had this conversation? Too many times. But, even as she shook hear head, Millicent knew her friend was right. Ever since the Minister was killed, the feelings to step up, the want to push for change, the ache to do something was too great. It kept Millicent up at night and it was the first thing she thought of whenever she saw injustice inside of the Ministry. War was easy, but politics? That was the hardest battle Millicent had ever faced.
“It was an ambush. Maybe death eaters, but I’m not sure. We were suppose to check out this little village. Make sure it was safe, but...my intel was wrong.” Millicent looked down at her lap and closed her eyes. She had a few connections in the world of dark magic, but she had never gotten information that was so wrong, that she couldn’t figure out on her own. Millicent looked back up at Amelia with a sad smile and shrugged. “Nobody was hurt. I feel like I could sleep for a bloody decade though.”
Knocking on the door of Millie’s office took Charity quite a lot of courage since she had the greatest respect for the older woman. They’ve crossed paths several times and Millie had always been extremely supportive, even offering to train with her a little last tine they met. When her voice called her in Chari stepped inside. “I’m here to get my butt kicked as we planned.”
(( @milliebagnold ))
Millicent laughed as Charity stepped inside her office, quickly finishing the last few touches on some paperwork. “Don’t be so hard on yourself. Remember what I said? Patience and discipline.” It’s what her father always said when she was a child and it was still something she believed in today. Millicent stood up from her desk with a small smile. “I’m ready to go if you are.”
“Welcome to Flourish and Blotts,” Daisy spoke hearing the bell, a habit. She lifted her eyes toward the newcomer, friendly grin in place. “Is there anything in particular I can help you find today?”
@milliebagnold
Millicent looked all over the bookstore as she entered, eyes wide and a little lost if she were to be honest. It wasn’t very often that she found herself needing to go to a bookstore. “Uh, yes actually. I think there is. I’m looking for some history books. Our world’s history, the Ministry of Magic’s history, anything. Do you have anything like that?”

andromedaxunchained:
Andromeda had told the administration that they could call her back in for emergencies. If it was absolutely necessary - she needed some time to recover from the shock of her father’s news before she attempted to help other people. However, she hadn’t considered how frequently emergencies came up these days, which meant that she had already received five owls requesting assistance, and she couldn’t very well say no. Especially not if she planned to return to work - which she did. Dora wouldn’t be home forever, and Andromeda had truly enjoyed working at St. Mungo’s. For a girl who had grown up in the most notorious pureblood family in England, who had spent her formative years facing disdain from people who disliked her family, being needed and appreciated was heady stuff. Which was why she swallowed her concerns and complaints and returned to St. Mungo’s with the same dedication to her work that had won her the good graces of her supervisors before. She knew that if she worked hard and without complaining, she’d go far here, and Andromeda had been a Slytherin, after all. She always thought with the long-term goal in mind.
“Here, you’ve got another one. Bagnold, hit witch. Here’s the information.” Andromeda took the parchment hastily thrust at her hands and scanned it as she walked down the corridor toward the correct room. The routine was as familiar as if she had never left, and she briefly entertained the thought of returning to work now - but it wasn’t time. Dora loved their time together, and so did Andromeda. She wasn’t ready to give it up yet. This wasn’t the time for that dilemma, though; Andromeda pushed the thoughts away as she rapped at the door and stepped inside the room.
“Millicent? I’m Andromeda Tonks.” The witch was prone on the bed but that didn’t mean she was sleeping. Andromeda pulled a stool over and perched on it, setting down the parchment and painkilling potion she had brought with her on a nearby table. She’d give Millicent a moment to respond before speaking again;.
She couldn’t sleep even if she wanted to; there was too much going on in St. Mungo’s. Millicent has seen how brutal this war has been first hand, but she wasn’t expecting the influx of civilians that were being brought in. It sickened her. It made her question why she was laying in this bed when she could be out there protecting the innocent from petty criminals to death eaters and You-Know-Who. There was no way to quiet her mind now. The more she laid there, the more she knew what she had to do to help end this war.
Millicent tried to sit up a few times while she waited, but the lights made her head pound and her arm hurt even more. She felt so useless. There was absolutely nothing she could do, but wait. The restlessness was already settling in, making her feet bounce back and forth. At some point, she was finally able to focus on only her breathing, but it was short lived.
“About time,” she mumbled, almost like a growl. Her lip raised in a slight scowl for a second as she propped herself up with her good arm before she bowed her head with a deep sigh. Deep stress lines embed itself into her forehead. She was being rude, snapping for no reason when the healer was only here to help. Millicent could only blame herself on being here. “I’m sorry. I...I’m not suppose to be here. You know?” She shook her head and finally met Andromeda’s eyes with a small smile. “Andromeda, right? You can call me Millicent.”

Ted’s hand shot into his pocket as his shoulder was grabbed, reaching for his wand in case he was being attacked. Sure, he was not the strongest magically but he figured he might as well try not to solve all of his fights the muggle way. He breathed a sigh of relief, however, at the sight of none other than Millicent. He was glad to see the older witch and relieved that it was just a harmless greeting, even if his heart was prepared to fly out of his chest.
“Wotcher, Millicent,” Ted greeted with a shaky smile. Millicent had helped him in school due to her superior abilities in academia. “Yes, actually. I was on my way to the supermarket in order to get some groceries. Dora’s tired of my cooking and she’s five.” He chuckled. “How have you been?”
Millicent had noticed his tense actions almost instantly. It was her job after all, but she could hardly blame him. The world was slowly going mad with the war and it left everyone on edge, it reached every corner of the wizarding world. Everyone was looking over their shoulders these days.
“Sorry ‘bout that. I didn’t mean to sneak up on you.” She suppressed a small laugh with the back of her hand and shook her head. “God, she’s five? Has it really been that long...” Hogwarts felt like yesterday. She could remember the late nights studying with Ted and the way the air smelled so sweet in the spring like it was yesterday. It was true; everything was so much simpler as kids.
“I’m...well. I spend most of days at my desk or on business.” Millicent ran a hand through her hair with a shrug. “It is what it is, I suppose. How have you been? I’m sure you’re busy with the little one.”
