🐇 William Afton's rabbit mannerisms
Inspired by this post. Originally rambled something into the tags but then felt atrociously embarrassed about it all and deleted those tags. Terribly silly and self-indulgent ideas to follow: a vague mix of game and movie-canon Afton.
Nuzzling: when a rabbit nudges or nuzzles you with their nose, it's a sign of affection.
Consider William nuzzling softly into your hairline: pressing his nose behind your ear, or against your neck, nuzzling into the soft skin there with a perfectly contented, breathy sigh. He might break off mid-kiss to instead incessantly nuzzle into the delicate hollow below your jaw, leading down to the most vulnerable part of your throat, blissfully, indulgently drinking in your scent; his strength, and the sheer force of this toweringly large man burrowing his face into your neck with animalistic need, almost knocking you flat off your feet as he continues to greedily lap up your scent like he's starving.
Rubbing their chin on various objects including yourself: marking the object as part of its territory.
Although he would never admit it, he is prone to "chinning", quite charmingly unconsciously, off-puttingly feral in his physical affections: sleepily, subconsciously rubbing his chin against the top of your head or shoulder, or against the palm of your hand if you reach to gently hold his cheek—instinctually marking you as his, a soft grunt catching in his throat as his coarse scruff scratches against your palm. Leaning his chin onto your head as he pulls you close to his chest, nuzzling his jaw against your hair, his message clear: this one is mine.
Flop: when a rabbit tips over or throws themselves onto their side. Often mistaken for dead. Generally a sign that the rabbit is very happy and relaxed and trusts you.
Much like a rabbit, he expresses his contentment and comfort around the subject of his affections in very subtle ways: stretching out languid and sleepy on the couch and unfolding from his usual stiff and tightly-wound posture, laying belly-up to communicate his complete and utter trust (and a near-irresistible open invitation for cuddles). Something like a predator rolling over to show it's soft underbelly, inviting you in with a sleepy, soft smile and a promise of sharing his closely-guarded warmth, as if for a moment you might forget exactly who the dangerous one is...
Prone to a flair for the dramatic, likely to suddenly and theatrically flop onto the couch with a heavy sigh, snatching your waist if you are (un)lucky enough to be within grabbing distance to pull you down with him.
Yawning: a sign of comfort, often signals that a rabbit is relaxed and happy.
Soft and sleepy, still—William yawns in your company, another little behavioural trait that may slip your attention at first. Amidst his employees, with strict appearances to uphold—and in his meticulously constructed disguises—such genuine, open displays are tightly controlled. A loud, sighing yawn in your presence (likely accompanied with a large stretch, wringing out the knotted tension in old joints and work-stiff muscles), shows just how comfortable he is in your presence, how relaxed, and perhaps a quiet willingness to allow you to tease him for his sleepiness.
Nipping: a call for attention depending on context; may include giving more pets and treats, and giving and stopping any attention.
If you dare try to leave his grasp before William decides he is quite finished with his attentions, that possessive, insistent, greedy nuzzling begins again—and at the moment you attempt to pull away, or lean back from his embrace: sharp teeth find the thin skin of your neck, a quick, pinching nip, and an entirely predatory growl. Pulling you closer into his body, teeth bared at your neck with just enough pressure to be felt but not hurt, dragging along your skin as he continues to nuzzle and thoroughly mark you with his scent. It would, or should be, strangely disconcerting, the ferality with which this man handles you like a predator closing in on a kill, if only you weren't so precisely aware of how a good scratch behind his ears might reduce to a purring, placated bunny rabbit flopped contently across your lap.
