May We #ReclaimMLK With Mindfulness

Dear Philadelphia (and all participants in this day of action),
On January 19, as our collective energy buzzes at 1:30pm on 440N Broad St, as we begin marching at 2:00pm and finish symbolically on Independence Mall at 3:30pm, may we hold close the humble teachings of Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, a peaceful warrior who inspired Dr. King. In fact, Dr. King formally nominated Thich Nhat Hanh for the 1967 Nobel Peace Prize.

Members of a Missouri-based Ku Klux Klan chapter sent a chilling message in Ferguson claiming they will use “lethal force” to defend themselves from “terrorists masquerading as ‘peaceful protesters.’” The Tradit…
But I thought they said we could join their organization now because…reasons.
I mean, I already bought my sheet and everything. I’d return it but I don’t think I kept the receipt.
Please join me in sending healing energy and gratitude for the recovery of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh who is suffering from a brain hemorrhage.
It’s my distinct honor to be the executive producer and narrator of the documentary feature The 5 Powers that tells the largely unknown story of Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, whom Martin Luther King nominated for the 1967 Nobel Peace Prize, Sister Chan Khong and American anti-war superhero Alfred Hassler and the creation of the 1958 Montgomery Story comic book that turned Martin Luther King Jr into a Superhero.
The film will be out in Fall 2015 and God willing Thay (as Nhat Hanh is referred to be his inner circle) will be able to join us for the US premiere.

Dave Gibbons, bestselling graphic novelist and Watchmen artist, has just been named the UK’s first comics laureate.
The creation of the laureate role, which will go to a comics writer or artist in recognition of their “outstanding achievement” in the field, is just one of a range of activities planned by new charity Comics Literacy Awareness with the intention of improving children’s literacy by raising awareness of the “variety and quality of comics and graphic novels today, particularly in the education sector”. The charity’s board of trustees include publishers, authors, librarians and academics.

“In many other countries, comics and graphic novels have been used extensively in literacy drives,” said charity trustee and graphic novelist Bryan Talbot, winner of the 2012 Costa Award for best biography for Dotter Of Her Father’s Eyes, on which he collaborated with his wife Mary Talbot. “The sheer accessibility of the medium, the way in which complex information can be easily absorbed through its combination of words and pictures, actively encourages reading in those intimidated by endless blocks of cold print.”
