I do outdoor education work, and within minutes of any elementary to middle schooler getting free permission to mess around with their friends in a clearing, they’re curious and driven again. they’re asking each other questions and yeeting pinecones at trees (science) and using their bodies. sometimes for evil. as is developmentally right. they want to know the names of birds! they want to teach someone pokemon! they want to build stuff and kick stuff and tackle each other and you into the snow!

they’re basically fucking institutionalized for 90% of their lives but their spirits are alive. you need to take them into the woods you need to treat them like animals with powerful inner lives and they’ll show you they are.

what i'm about to say is meant more in a general trope sense than a kinky one but i'm posting this on the kink blog anyway because it does also apply in the kinky sense too:

sometimes corruption comes off as just "someone set this hero to Evil" and i find that version of it vague and underwhelming. to me, corruption is a lot more effective and interesting when the corrupted person is still recogniseable - maybe the hero has a vindictive streak that's usually overriden by their sense of justice and you've reversed that relationship, or maybe it's the exact traits that made them so heroic that you've exaggerated into something twisted and destructive

that or have the hero clearly fighting against the corruption the whole time, which also ensures that you can still recognise the corrupted person. but a full personality override where they're just Evil now does nothing for me (unless they get a slutty evil outfit, but in those cases it's really the outfit that's doing it for me)
