My talent’s for lying. [x]
May 10, 2013; Happy Birthday John Constantine!
If you were to ask me what John Constantine means to me as a fictional character, my first impulse would be to correct you on the word ‘fictional.’ My second would be to explain that no other character has ever been more real, more relatable, or more gut-wrenching to keep up with. Born in 1987 myself, I found John in my early teens and had years to catch up on, but within weeks I knew him like the back of my hand. Since then he’s been a constant source of ironic comfort, entertainment, and amazement for me. He’s not your average comic character, and that’s why I love him. He stumbles frequently, he makes horrible mistakes he can’t recover from, he’s sometimes a horrible person himself, and he aged like a real man for quite some time in a universe where characters were frequently rebooted and never stayed dead. He’s a lot of things to a lot of people, and most of them are lies or cons. But John Constantine has never claimed to be anything other than what he really is to himself, and I appreciate the bastard for everything that definition includes. Thank you, Alan Moore, for giving him a voice we could hear. [x]
SLOWATUS
bedtime now. I had a looooooong day driving to phoenix and back, but i’ll be around more tomorrow night, if not then monday, however, later next week my sister and her husband are visiting, so I may be scarce. I’ll also be dividing my free time from work between visiting with her and working on BIG THINGS for my novel to be published soon [[for updates on that follow the tags: the link books & the link books update.]]
As always, you can find me on my personal if you miss me horribly! iluall

“Live one of your lifetimes in my name? Just to fuck with people, but also because if anyone else can wear it, it’s you.”
☠
“Burn the mansion for me. It never really was home without you lot there.”
can we all take a moment to appreciate rp and the way it allows characters to evolve beyond their canon into something very much our own? Take for example this version of Stanley versus my just-out-of-the-comics Stanley. Both are written in character but at very different points in their characterization and I cannot stress enough how much of a better character you guys make him!
☠
“Look after our son. I must have loved you a great deal in that timeline to allow myself to become a father with you. That kind of love trickles across universes, even if only a bit.”
Send me a ☠ and I'll write out my character's last dying words to yours.

Staked out between me and the booze with a welcome-home cig between his lips. Fuck knows why ‘m surprised. Tell meself to shove the sentimental bullshit while I swagger up, unreadable badass facade is a check.
I’m a James Bond suave prick when I steal his cig and crush our lips together, no breath or space between us while I dig me free hand into his hair. Longer than usual, somebody’s been on vacation. Have ta tease him about fear of foreign barbers later.
My closed eyes are like the laughs at a pub, something that bubbles up when you feel like you’ve retreated somewhere that stands still while the world goes on whirling around your little sacred space.
And Stanley melted into the kiss. Once a man who wanted nothing more than pain from this mystery of a man, he now enjoyed the quiet moments that were ever backed with lustful need and passion. John's passion was beyond physical, taking on a magic of its own in a lot of ways.
Maybe that was why there was enough to share between them.
Stanley was smirking when their lips parted, and he didn't even bother to try to get his cigarette back. He really only smoked them because of the residual craving that came from sharing Constantine's blood. "Someone missed me," he teased.
What gave it away?
Oh, you're quite subtle, I'll give you that. Most anyone else wouldn't know right off, but the trouble with magic is that sometimes you see more than you want to. Ergo, I know what you are at first sight.

Well, well, let me guess...vampire?

New York feels good again, now that I know I won’t be staying. I’ll be in and out before the rain has a chance to eat away at my stones. The city’s had more than its’ share of me the last year, sucking bits of broken history into its’ sandy sludge. It’s all beach glass now, shards to crunch under my shoes while it lacerates everyone else’s bare soles.
This house still feels wrong. It’s not anyone’s in truth, a transient bit of real estate whose only appeal is its’ drink cabinet. The man inside, my man, the one I’m dragging my feet about seeing, it’s not his and he doesn’t belong here. Doesn’t belong in America, not proper. He’ll always be American man, my American. Bit of a fetish for having one, truth told.
The thought makes me smile a sight too fondly as my feet get fucking moving and drag me inside. He’ll be waiting for me, he knows the buzz in my veins and knows there’s a question for the asking. It’s good of him, fuck it’s a saint of him to have been waiting. Nice and neat, pick up right where we left off. Me eyes are stinging with unaccounted tears. Fuckin’ New York.
Cigarette in hand, Stanley was sitting on one of the kitchen countertops waiting. John would be by soon--he could feel it--and his first stop would be either the wine cellar directly or the cabinet in the kitchen. Either way, he'd walk past him at least once.
Staring around the room, Stanley realized all at once that he'd actually missed this place a little bit while gone. Not the building itself, never the building, but the people who lived here now. His friends he'd made over the years, people who left footprints in his memories that could never be washed away. Not to mention the son that came from a future that would never happen.
He'd missed his family. Because that's what they were--not just friends, not after everything they'd all been through together. For someone who had watched his parents be slaughtered, the idea of family was a bit scary, but he kept his expression indifferent as he took a drag from the cigarette in his hand.
I also needed this screencap because CKR smoking. And if I needed it, then maybe some of you need it too?
Hey, now there’s a sight for sore eyes.
Charming as ever. You...you seem different.
