SO,
- jon being revealed as a targaryen? POINTLESS
- the night king being hyped up as the biggest threat for 8 seasons? POINTLESS
- cersei being the original mad queen and being hyped up as the biggest human threat? POINTLESS
- jaime’s character development and 8-year long redemption arc? POINTLESS
- bran becoming the three-eyed raven? POINTLESS
- jon being brought back from the dead for a higher purpose? POINTLESS
- arya leaving braavos and instead choosing her family and home? POINTLESS
- the starks going through hell for years and years waiting to be reunited? POINTLESS because they were reunited for like 5 minutes before being separated again
- daenerys overcoming all the terrible things that happened to her, bringing magic back to the world, going from nothing to becoming one of the most powerful people on earth, pledging to break the wheel, learning the moral difficulties of ruling, trying hard not to be like her father? POINTLESS
BUT HEY AT LEAST BRONN GOT HIS CASTLE SO IT’S ALL GOOD
It never ceases to amaze me, the courage of hobbits.
What was the point of Jon’s resurrection?
What was the point of Brienne being a major part of Jaime’s storyline?
What was the point of Jaime leaving Cersei in the first place?
What was the point of Cersei’s prophecy?
What was the point of Jon’s true identity?
What was the point of having Cersei pregnant?
What was the point of Dany turning crazy because of bells?
What was the point of the Golden Company?
What was the point of hinting Jon and Dany’s relationship during the entire fucking series?
Let’s take a look at the case of Mad Queen and Dark Dany, shall we?
On the one hand we have the allegation that Daenerys decided, with full conscience, to burn King’s Landing to a crisp in advance to the attack, during her ‘Let it be fear’ scene with Jon Snow.
(Dumb&Dumber did say that it was a shift that happened in that moment and was not planned, but….. at this point do I even need to elaborate???)
Well.
This is the woman who lost her husband and baby and stepped into a fire with three dragon eggs. The woman that got her people out of the Red Waste alive only to have them all be slaughtered. The one that found herself captive to the Dothraki and escaped captivity as their fucking leader, in the most badass throw-me-to-the-wolves-and-I’ll-return-leading-the-pack moment of female empowerment.
Daenerys is the goddamn comeback Queen.
She’s been brutalised, abused, sold and raped. She’s lost more people than anyone. She’s been through everything. There’s nothing you can throw at her she hasn’t already known.
And you expect me to believe that what breaks her is Jon Snow being loved and idolised by a bunch of Northerners and wildlings that are coincidentally his buddies?
Really?
Daenerys Stormborn, the Breaker of Chains, the mhysa worshipped by her people was so incredibly jealous of Jon Snow, whom no one outside the North has even heard of, she decided to go completely berserk? She goes to the region that’s notorious for being isolationist and obstinate, sees them demonstrate the predictable, xenophobic attitude they have towards anyone that isn’t them and she just falls into despair? Does she plan to move the capital to Winterfell and worries about how she’s gonna cope? She literally doesn’t need to set foot in this wasteland for the entirety of her reign.
Do you expect me to believe that Dany was one breath away from her life’s goal achieved, with King’s Landing surrendering without the blood of a single innocent shed, and she just went ‘fuck it, let’s throw this all in the garbage. Three days spent with a bunch of elitist Northern little shits have convinced me that I’m a completely useless leader that will never be loved by anyone, even though my entire life I have found myself navigating cultures completely foreign to me, managing to adapt and integrate, and ultimately win the people’s love and respect. If I don’t have the Northern Stamp of Approval I’m nothing! ’?
Do you expect me to believe Daenerys, who has lost so many people in her life just couldn’t stand the idea of Jon Snow not loving her? Do you really expect me to believe Daenerys Stormborn went full Ophelia/Lady MacBeth combo because.. a man rejected her? That’s it?! A man she knows for no more than a few weeks and has cost her near everything while giving her nothing?
Wasn’t everyone crying about Dany being powerhungry and obsessed with the Throne until yesterday? So how the everliving fuck can they seriously consider a plot that has her throw her victory and lifelong dream away, in any way believable?
Wasn’t everyone crying about Dany’s notorious dark side and Targaryen ruthlessness? So why didn’t she go straight for the Red Keep to take her revenge by taking down the woman that murdered her best friend, the woman who’s family ordered the massacre and brutalisation of her niece, nephew and sister-in-law and tried to decimate the entire Targaryen House?
‘But that’s what made her lose it! She couldn’t handle it and turned mad! The Targaryen genes! The inbreeding!’
Bullshit.
Five Targaryens have gone mad in three centuries. Five. And many others went down in history as some of the kindest, most benevolent rulers of the Realm.
You want to talk about her father, whom everyone loves bringing up with their smartass I-told-you-so comments? The man whom it took years to descend into madness and become the Mad King? The Nero of Westeros, that wanted to burn King’s Landing because he thought that would make him a fucking dragon? That’s the parallel you’re going for? Based on what?
How is a Pavlovian switch from sanity to madness, caused by bells of all things, a plausible depiction of a character descending into madness?
Dany was enraged, and she had every right to be so. She had every right to unleash holy hell to those who wronged her. Go full fire and blood.
I absolutely love Dany’s darkness, and I will defend the harshness with which she punishes her enemies, the slave masters and rapists and abusers, until my dying breath. I would have loved to see her every bit as ruthless getting her revenge from Cersei and her cronies, a living reflection of Visenya Targaryen, a dragon breathing fire herself.
But burning a city full of innocents to the ground is not how someone overcome with grief and rage that seeks revenge acts.
It’s not how any damn person acts, let alone the show’s posterchild of protecting the innocent and bringing justice. The woman that found a way to liberate Yunkai without shedding a drop of blood. The woman that refused to attack King’s Landing straight away, as any clever leader would do, to spare the innocents, lost her allies’ forces because of it, was willing to put everything on hold to save the North costing her dramatically, and negotiated with the devil for the umpteenth time to save those damn civillians.
Who has ever even done that? Stannis Baratheon that was about to sack the capital with his fleet? Robert Baratheon when he overthrew the Targaryens? Honestly what kind of conqueror bends over backwards, and turns their backs to an easy and certain win so that civillians won’t get hurt?
Daenerys fucking Targaryen did.
Meanwhile, every character we’ve spent seasons watching sit idly by as atrocities are committed, that have done their fair share of actually horrific shit in their day are suddenly clutching their pearls every time that Dany so much as voices the wish to finally fucking do what they came here for.
The gaslighting of Daenerys this past two seasons has been beyond outrageous. Cersei could literally throw her in a cell and Tyrion would be like ‘Your Grace, maybe it’s not wise, to move right away and release you…. Think of the innocent people…. The weather….. The omens…Flower power….’
She had to put up with all this patronising bullshit, suffer detrimental losses in her forces (that were then magically recovered but I am not getting into that shit) because of people that treated her as a mentally unstable liability and just take it.
And she did. She fucking took it all. She singlehandedly won King’s Landing with no civillian getting hurt after postponing the attack a million times already.
And I’m expected to believe that she threw it all away and just started burning everyone alive? Is this the Twilight Zone?
This clusterfuck was neither Dany embracing her fire and blood side nor going mad. It was merely a clownery meant to provide shock valur, that gave the audience the worst case of whiplash in the history of television and the character assassination of one of the most iconic female characters in fantasy.
this is literally the equivalent to harry potter defeating voldemort in book five and spending the rest of the series trying to defeat dolores umbridge but once he suceeds he becomes the new dark lord he just defeated .93 seconds ago and ron has to kill him
daenerys who told yara that the greyjoys were not allowed to pillage or raid or rape?? daenerys who locked and chained her children after drogon killed one person?? daenerys who gave water to those who had been crusified on the walk of punishment and tried to free them?? daenerys who did not attack astapor because she didn’t want to risk the life of even one person?? daenerys who hated her brother?? daenerys who critisised consantly and went out of her way to ensure that she did not become like her father?? daenerys who saved missandei and grey worm from slavery?? daenerys who ordered the unsullied to kill the slave masters but to harm no innocents?? daenerys who risked herself to stop the khalasar from raping and killing innocents?? daenerys who was shocked and disgusted by the treatment of innocent babies and women in slavery’s bay?? daenerys who freed almost ten thousand men from daily suffering and torture?? daenerys who refused to pillage and loot to fund her journey to westeros?? daenerys who earned the loyalty of her people through her love?? daenerys who initially refused the unsullied because she didnt want to participate in the cycle of abuse?? daenerys who refused to reopen the fighting pits which forced slaves to fight to the death?? daenerys who only wanted free people to follow her bc she wanted to rule with love instead of fear?? daenerys who was viewed as a “glimmering hope in an increasingly dark world” by those she freed from slavery?? daenerys who freed the slaves of astapor and yunkai and meereen?? daenerys who stayed in meereen in order to gain more experience on how to be a good ruler?? daenerys who married a man she hated so that she could provide safety for her people?? daenerys who executed mossador, her supporter and friend, for killing an innocent?? daenerys who conquered “for freedom and justice??” daenerys who ser barristan told was nothing like her father?? daenerys who didnt kill tyrion, who belonged to the house she hated most in the world, because she found him innocent?? daenerys who called the dothraki “cruel men” for raping and killing?? daenerys who saved ornela from being killed even if it put her owen safety at risk?? daenerys who spared one of the great masters who tried to kill her and her people??
Literally every women in GOT who wanted to take power for themselves (Cersei, Dany, Ellaria, Margaery) has been vilified in some way
Women who try to take power for men or have no interest in power whatsoever (Sansa, Arya, Brienne, Gilly, etc.) have not
Tell me again how this isn’t sexism.
I just saw someone on Twitter say, “Game of Thrones feels like a beautiful, epic poem that got to the last verse and tried to rhyme the word ‘orange.’”
God that is a damn near perfect description!
GoT Men as Sandwiches
this is such a fuck you to any woman who has ever found strength in daenerys. taking a VICTIM and making her a ruthless madwoman who goes insane and kills innocents because of bells? men should not be allowed to write women ever. i mean it
Please reblog, this is so important.
I needed this
Is this foreal?
Yes it’s a real service. I do volunteer work for a rape crisis support service in my city and texting is one of the features we provide as well. But just to boost its credibility, I tried it myself:
reblog to save lives!
You can also text “Steve” to 741741 if you’re a young person of color. The website for more info is stevefund.org
My understanding is that it’s more multicultural and some folks feel more comfy with that in mind!

get help guys, please. if you’re hurting, don’t let that hurt consume you. seek help.
I never knew this. It’s spectacular.
a whole mood.
what even was the point of this show? like i’m genuinely curious. what was the point of jon’s parentage reveal. what was the point of him being resurrected if he didn’t kill the night king. what was the point of establishing a prophecy foretelling cersei would die by her brother’s hand when that didn’t happen. what was the point of setting daenerys up as a just ruler who wanted to make the world better. what was the point of jaime’s entire character arc. what was the point.
Fawkes the Phoenix was based on a harpy eagle, howmcute would a kestrel phoenix be with a peacock tail and train?
this is a Good Opportunity considering i was never a big fan of fawkes’ movie design how about
ok but what about
@triruntu
@elodieunderglass uhhhhhh… Birb?
I Suggest we Consider:
AQUATIC (penguin)
No wait
this is terrible
put it back
the poor thing
why would anyone do this
I dunno, I kinda love it… :D
It’s a fine line to tread when you’re breeding your phoenix. A swan is good:
Elegant
Classic
Like Cleopatra, he burns upon the water
Equal parts beauty and danger
Full of Secrets
But take it a few genes to the left and you’ve got a GOOSE
A raptor if raptors were total idiots
Neither beauty nor grace
Full of Hate
Has so much poop for you
(Make no mistake, a swan will mess you up just as hard as a goose. But it is the difference between being slain with a katana and getting whacked with a bag of old potatoes.)
It got better
@elodieunderglass
Oh my God someone actually drew a Good Version of my Dubious Penguin????? And THEN someone added a sweonix (swan phoenix)? Oh man, this is the stuff you miss when you’re in the middle of a reblog chain.
@english-history-trip that is some powerful art, and I respect the trip that it represents from the sublime to the absurd, for in this journey we find enlightenment.
@keire-ke your magnificent penguin art represents the other side of the journey, which takes us from the absurd to the powerful. In this journey we find truth.
According to some sources, the legend of the phoenix might be derived from another bird noted for it’s striking appearance and who, indeed, are of the order Phoenicopterus
You know what birds those are?
FLAMINGOS!
Just saying…. if someone wanted to try ANOTHER take on Fawkes….
This is terrible and I feel like I should apologise, but really, it’s @iconuk01‘s fault.
Also I am not a certified Birb artist.
Never
Apologize

Herodotus
so I’m speaking hypothetically here but is there any reason we can’t move the whole Phoenix thing backwards up the dinosaur family tree a little bit?
T-Rex Phoenix. that’s where I’m going with this.
Bunjy I think that’s a Dragon.
