“Incorporating the old is a thought I keep in mind with every outfit I wear. Whether that be something I’ve thrifted or something passed down, there’s a certain quality in wearing clothes from a bygone age. This look is inspired by a 1897 Sargent portrait of socialite Edith Minturn Stokes. Elements of early 20th century fashion can be seen, notably the pleated shirt and pillbox hat. This piece is meant to emulate a bird - the black crowned night heron to be exact!”

For reference, the portrait that inspired Chris:

And here’s a black-crowned night heron:

“what’s up with you and vampires, man?” we don’t have the time to discuss this
me: BRING OUT THE DEATH RAY!!!
*my henchmen wheel a large glass tank containing a tiny stingray into the room*
captive hero: aww!
me: QUIET! this is the deadliest ray known to man. one milli milli milligram of poison from its sting is enough to stop a grown man's heart in under a minute! and he answers only to me! behold your DOOM!
stingray: *nudges my hand*
me, getting down on my knees in front of the tank so i can look him in the eyes: Mortimer, please. i'm trying to be intimidating here.
you will
Should I be saving my money for a down payment on a house and getting rid of furniture so I have less to move? Yes. And also yes.
But consider:
She's $300 and I need her
She's here!!
This side-by-side was built by the Rockford Desk and Furniture Co., which only existed from 1891-1895. I've found one singular other example of this cabinet, which was auctioned over a decade ago, and was stained a dark cherry color. I personally like the color of the quartersawn oak as it is, so I'm not planning a full restoration.
Wait I just realized this puts her in line of sight with my favorite chifforobe and I love how they look together. Very different periods and styles but I feel like there's a dialogue there.
We are not judging the mess in my drawing room, that's a later problem. Work table all covered in nonsense...
good bye forever
(goverment voice) we need to protect the children from pornography so our plan is to remove their eyes so they would never see something so traumatic. if you are against removing children's eyes you are basically a pedophile
