dream is alarmed when he notices his absence and rushes to look for him in the waking bc something terrible must have happened to hob

but no he finds hob teaching his class as usual with a gallon of coffee and on his most passionate anti-shakespeare tangent ever

I went to see The Trocks last night and one of the dancers looked EXACTLY like our boy Dream. Like, EXACTLY. The big dark hair, the eyeliner, pouty, the works.

First he was Prince Siegfried, falling in love with a swan being all brooding, then he was a faun with his little horns dancing about in the woods.

My friends - I was transfixed!

“Jesus, Mary, and St. Joseph,” Hob yelps as he turns in his previously empty living room to see a figure which, though perfectly familiar, never quite fails to be a little alarming when he insists on materialising unannounced in Hob’s flat.

This is, of course, Hob’s own fault.

Anytime, he’d said. He even meant it. What he had not meant was feel free to give me a heart attack a few times a week.

“I’m getting you a bell,” he mutters, turning for the kitchen automatically.

Dream’s bony, pale hand catches his wrist on the way past.

Hob pauses. Dream has never, ever touched him before.

Death giving immortality to Hob and having Dream meet him once every 100 years was sort of an equivalent of a person giving their sibling a dog so they would go out of their house. It's like "here, a buddy with whom you have to go out regularly. His mouth does not close and he smells sometimes but dude you need to touch grass once in a while". And Dream reluctantly took it but after a short time (for him) he ended up going out of his way to get his friend treats. (The treats being an extinct wine he took from somebody else's dream.)
